Bob,
I don't know where I found the connection with Mary Rogers to Robert
Rogers but when if I remember I will let you know. I did notice your
Genforum on Robert Rogers, but that was not where I obtain my info. It
was during a search of my Rogers line somewhere.
About Silas Ray and Rebecca Colby here's what I got with me:
Silas Ray m. Rebecca Colby and had a son Chellis Ray May 17, 1832
that married Ermina Isabel Clough
I don't have all my stuff with me as I'm at work. but that was the
date period. Rebecca was probably born around 1812 (just guessing, and
only if this was her first marriage).
Did you get a chance to visit the HHS? They did some good stuff with
their museum.

oops!! Looked in my data set found Rebeeca b. 2 Feb 1777 Henniker
m. Silas Ray 14 Apr 1801
daughter of Eliphalet 1751-1842 and Aphia Flanders 1752-1842

Hi all,
Silas Ray m. Rebecca Colby and had a son Chellis Ray May 17, 1832 that
married Ermina Isabel Clough, probably Henniker, NH.
Anyone have any idea where Rebecca fits?
Bob
Weiss was not known for his accuracy. SOunds like the first person who
figures out the notes after the entry, might consider checking the
reference. I think, that back in my Woods file, (That is Woods family
records, not woodpile!) I have a page which lists the names of the journals
and keys them to the abbreviations he used after the citations.

Here's the info from Hoyts book
He was married to Sarah Osgood (daughter of William Osgood and
Elizabeth (Osgood)) before 1700 in Prob Amesbury, Ma. Sarah Osgood was
born on Feb 7 1653 in Salisbury, Ma. She died about 1716 in Amesbury, Ma.
It is cetain from deeds that Sarah Osgood, b 1652/3, was in 1700 and 1708
wife of John Colby, and that she was dead in 1716. The only doubt is
whether Sarah Eldridge and Sarah Osgood were the same person. The records
may be reconciled in three ways: 1. Perhaps Eldridge should read Osgood.
2. Perhaps Sarah Osgood married 1st _____ Eldridge, of whom we have no
other record, and m. 2nd John Colby. 3. the two may be distinct persons,
as given above, which seems most probable, though we have no trace of the
family of Sarah Eldridge. Wm and Anne Eldred, or Eldridge, of Yarmouth had
Dau. Sarah, b.t 1850; but she was six years older than John Colby, and we
know of no intercourse between Yarmouth and Salisbury. There was a John
Eldred of Hampton in 1640, who apparently soon died or moved away.

I forgot one other piece of the puzzle. According to Sherman's Vital records
of Yarmouth, Massachusetts to the year 1850 (Publisher: [Providence?] :
Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Rhode Island, c1975), p.
842 lists:
Sarah Eldred [born] Oct. the 10th 1650
and also:
Nicholas Eldred [born] Aug. the 18th 1650
The names of the parents weren't listed. Were there two families of
Eldreds? Was there a mistake in the records?

Torrey's book has extensive criptic notes as to where each fact was taken.
they are in a shorthand notation and one needs access to that book to
decode his sources. I would assume that if you did that, you would be able
to see the references he was reading, and why he put down the word
"Osgood." I did some decoding while spending an afternoon in the New
England Historic Genealogical Society, and was able to list all the souces
of my wife's Woods surname that I wished to check, and find many of them in
that library.

Hi John;
Haven't heard from you for a while!
I think we had a discussion about this a while back, and I beleive the
thought was that there is a very good probability the two Sarah's are
the same woman. That Sarah was possibly married to a Osgood.

At the library today, I verified the Amesbury vital records, p. 314 show the
marriage of John Colby to Sarah Eldridge as follows:
"COLBY, John and Sara Eldredg, Dec. 25, 1675. N. CT. R."
Just to make it interesting, Torrey's New England Marriages p. 168 shows:
"COLBY, John & Sarah (OSGOOD?) ELDRIDGE, 25 Dec 1675, Amesbury"
I checked for OSGOOD marriages, but couldn't find any for Sarah. So, I
don't know where the OSGOOD reference comes from. But there's something
somewhere.

They keep telling us to get in touch with our bodies.
Mine isn't all that communicative, but I heard from

Clear as a bell my body said, "Listen buster....

HI Mary and all;
The only Margaret I have that fits is the same one that Donald
indicated. She married William Bailey in 1815. I don't have a death
date on him, but it's possable this is your Margaret.
Possably Sherry Gould in N.H. could help with this?
If this is the correct Margaret, I can fill in more for you,

Hi all.
In the Essex Antiquarian Vol II 1898 page 78, it shows
Daniel Adams, b. 24 Nov 1756 Newbury married Dec 25 1777 Elizabeth Colby
had two children born in Newbury.
Lovey b. April 12 1778
Elizabeth b. Nov 17, 1779 d. young
Daniel remarried Jan 14 1787
So I assume Elizabeth died before 1786
Does anyone know who this Elizabeth Colby is?
