Hi, All
Here are the only 2 obits from the <http://www.ancestry.com> data base
of Boston Herald Obits 1990 - 1998 that actually referred to real,
identifiable people. Most of the 'finds' on Colby were Colby College.
Now, can anyone connect these to their parents, etc?

Hampshire.
He was baptized into the LDS church on 4 JUN 1997 in the Los Angeles,
California LDS temple. He was endowed on 22 JUL 1997 in the Los Angeles,
California LDS temple. He was sealed to parents on 31 JUL 1997 in the Los
Angeles, California LDS temple. NOTE: Jonathan Colby, the youngest child
of
Abraham and Elizabeth, was born February 13, 1762. He was only six years
old
when the family emigrated to Bow. On arriving at his majority he married
Martha Alexander born Nov 6, 1760, a daughter of Samuel Alexander, an early
settler on the river road in Bow. The older brothers being located on their
respective lots, it devolved on Jonathan to care for his aged parents in
their
declining years, and to inherit the homestead. Soon after the death of his
father the house was superseded by a two story, single house, a few rods
north
of the old one, which crippled his resources and, having a large family, he
was obliged to struggle to provide for their necessities.
The new house was built about 1804. After his decease in 1831, the house
was
sold to parties in Concord, and Silas Call moved it, on wheels, to the
corner
of State and Washington Streets, where, with an addition, it may now be
seen
in fair condition, in 1894. Jonathan died July 8, 1831. His widow went to
live
with his brother, Thomas, where she died October 28, 1844.
The beginning of the book states:

On August 16, 1768, he bought of John Leavitt of Stratham part of lots No.

and 4 in the 14 range, being 120 acres, for L45, lawfull money. The road
through Bow was only a bridle path from the hill where the first meeting
house
was built, and extending on to where Bow Mills village is now located

The Colby purchase included the land on Wood Hill, both sides of the path,

TECHNO: GENEALOGY ONLINE
Climbing the "family tree" has never been so easy! Find out what you need
to know about researching family genealogy online and get tips for tracking
down ancestors via the Internet.
There are a number of instances of connections of the Colby and Jackson
families in England and in the New England section of the USA. Does anyone
know of any such connections related to the Colby and Jackson families that
were in VA and NC prior to 1800?

Silas (Levi, Eliphalet, Isaac, Isaac, Thomas, Anthony) COLBY was born 11
Aug 1788 in Henniker, NH. He married first Hannah FARRAR (born 31 May
1793 and died 5 Aug 1844) and second Emily FARRAR, her sister. I have no
dates for Emily. The children of Silas and Hannah were:
1. Eri COLBY born 21 Oct 1814
2. Mary COLBY born 25 July 1816; died 13 May 1865
3. Isaac F. COLBY born 2 Nov 1818
4. Hannah S. COLBY born 17 Aug 1820
5. Silas N. COLBY born 12 Jan 1823; died 10 Feb 1832
6. Sarah F. COLBY born 18 Feb 1825; died 14 Feb 1859
7. Emily R. COLBY born 15 Aug 1827; died 20 Feb 1832
8. Martha Jane COLBY born 27 July 1829 died 21 July 1875
9. Caroline M. COLBY Born 7 Aug 1832 in Henniker, NH (I have her birth
certificate).
She was married to Theodore Johnson TEANEY (born 20 June 1825) on 24
May
1855 (by the Rev. James Steidley). Caroline died 28 Sept 1869 in
Macoupin Co.,
Illinois.
10. Sylvia Lillis COLBY born 1 Sept 1836 Sylvia died 16 Sept 1867.
Caroline M. COLBY and Theodore J. TEANEY were my great-great
grandparents. I went to Illinois last summer to find their graves, which
are in Asbury Cemetery, Barr Township, Illinois. I also have some
letters that Caroline wrote to her sisters. I have more information
about Caroline and Theodore and their family as they are my direct line.
I hope this helps someone.
I'd like to know more about the Farrars, if anyone has any information.
Kathleen
Hi, cousins!
I just got back from a trip to Amesbury. I got to see The House! It
was really great to think a it still being there. I also toured through
some cemeteries and took pictures of gravestones. Some of them are not
familiar to me - and I can't stand that! If anyone can connect these
people, please let me know.

Hi all
Because of some miss-information being given out
I just called the LDS Distribution Center here in Salt Lake City
This is what they told me.
North American
CDs contain 5,000,000 names.
These names come from all 50 states, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, and
Nova Scotia covering 287 years.
They told me they contain previously unpublished names. I'm not quite sure
what that ment.
They are now starting to fill Back Orders.
All back orders will be filled before they place them in the bookstores.
Hope this helps
