Hi, Denis. We have been researching the Colbournes here in Newfoundland. We are from Carbonear, Nl.. My husband's name is Pleman Colbourne. We have researched as far as Thomas Colbourne, born about 1835 or 1836. Don't know where he was born, but died in Carbonear in FEB.14, 1899 aged approx. 63 at death. He was my Husbands' gg Grandfather. He was married to Gertrude Bennett of Carbonear at Hr. Grace on Jan.12,1865. Gertrude was 23 at the time. They had about 8 children inc. Mary Ann b. 1881. Thomas b. 1888. Rupert James b.Oct. 27,1874.{ He was my Husbands GGrandfather. }Also He had Henry Bennett b.Dec. 02, 1866. We are unable to find any more information on him like where he was born or who his parents were. We are very interested in going back as far as we can in the Colbourne family history. Would you possibly have any information? Could you E-Mail us at colbourne_05(a)hotmail.com? Thanks, Joan

Hello Denis. You and I communicated a few years ago... I'm Jim Colbourne from Atlanta, Georgia. At the time we spoke, you were trying to verify that John was the son of William and Christian.. Were you able to find some information? You might recall that my great aunt has a family bible from the 1820s with our geneology hand-written inside the cover. William and Christians children were listed, however there was not a "John". Just wondering if you've found something that I can add to my tree!
Hope all is well.

Hi Denis
John & Lydia were my great-great grandparents too. So that makes us distant cousins.
Cheers
Fred

John & Lydia were my great-great grandparents.
John's parents were John & Elizabeth Colbourne who with their two sons Joseph & John emigrated from England in 1782. John b. SN, England about 1750, d. 1805,Twillingate, Elizabeth died1813, Twillingate.
