Barb,
In your digging for information, did you ever come up with any information regarding ARMITAGES? HODGINS AND COLBERT have come up for me. Would be interested in exchanging information as it is good for me, but even better for someone else who can use it.

An 1896 Dawes Application includes the following information from the deposition of William Simpson, a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation (Indian Territory) about a woman named Margaret or Peggy Richardson. It indicates a Colbert family connection. Even though it is a Chickasaw application, the Colbert name gives it broader application, so I thought I would send this post and see if any Colberts recognize the family mentioned:
-Begin abstract-
Citizenship of J.W. Blasingame
9 May 1889
Muscogee, I.T.
Union Agency
William Simpson, citizen of the chickasaw Nation, at Goodland, P.O.
Born 16 Dec 1822, on the Tennessee River near Colbert's Ferry, Alabama; raised partly in Chickasaw Co., MS.
Knew Indian girl named "Peggy" in Mississipppi at Olamumbees old Council House and, later, when she lived up on Bear Creek near the Alabama line.
Peggy had brother named Nock-la-la or Noch-ta-la and a younger brother named Chambers. Nock-la-la died in that county before the Chickasaws emigrated.
Mrs. Elizabeth Perry told Simpson Peggy married a white man (thought to be J.W. Blasingame).
Peggy's house name was In-ko-or-sha and she belonged to that clan.
They were related to Tom Colbert, who is dead.
-End Abstract-
Other information: Peggy's maiden name was thought, by the family, to be Richardson, Richens, Richards....but, most often, Richardson. Her father's name was given as Bill Richardson, from McNairy Co., TN. Peggy was born about 1798 (1850 Census of Searcy Co., AR) in Tennessee and died or left the marriage about 1854 (probably died); as J.W. "Wade" Blassingame married Phoebe Campbell in 1854 in Independence Co., AR.
Does anyone have family names that match this information? The Colbert family is large, so I will be posting this query in several places. I hope to hear from anyone with related information or thoughts on how to prove the data.
Thanks,
Kathie
