One of my gr-gr grandmothers was MARY JANE COLBERT, who was married to George R. Worthington in 1870 in Williams Co. Ohio. I have some info that states she was born in Seneca Co. Ohio in 1851. I would appreciate any info on possible parents for MARY JANE COLBERT. Since she was under the age of 21, the marriage record is signed by a JESSE COLBERT, possibly father or a brother (my gr grandfather Worthington was Jesse Colbert Worthington). Thanks for any help!

Tramore is on the coast. It's a shame she never returned home. Perhaps an obit in London might shed some light on her descendants and help you locate her family.

Hello, my name is Dee Colbert and I am African-American. My paternal grandfather was Duncan (Dunk) colbert (born in 1861) and my (paternal)grandmother's name was Frankie (born in 1870). My father, Edgar was one of eight or nine children. I believe the eldest was my uncle Oskar (different spelling)and the youngest was my father Edgar. As far as I can tell, all my uncles and aunts were born in Concordia Parish, Louisiana between 1885 and 1906. If any of this rings familiar with you, pleas contact me at Keys7412(a)aol.com or Dkeys9372(a)aol.com

Here is some info that I picked up on Mason Colbert:
1860 census, Missouri, Sheet No: 241, Reel No: M653-607, Division: Township 39, Range: 23, Page No: 17, enumerated on June 11, 1860 by Chas. A. Clark
Notes from the Colbert.FTW file:
Mason traveled west with his family to Ohio about 1832. He lists his occupation as a carpenter on the US Census records until his death in 1877. He seems to have moved about every ten years - from Ohio to Illinois in the 1850's - on to Missouri in 1860 - back to Illinois in the later civil war years and then on to Kansas in the 1870's. His first wife, Hanna (Taylor) was buried in Mason Co., Illinois about 1867 and he took a widow, Josephine (Horyt) Evans as his wife. Mason served in the civil war in the 8th Missouri Calvary for one year and was discharged due to his age.

Hello Pauline,
My Catherine Colbert Dalton (b 1848) was from Town Wall, Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary, Ireland. She remained in the same general location throughout her lifetime. Do you know where your Bridget Colbert called home, before she moved to London?
Regards,
K.T. Dalton-Mapstone

If you are a known descendant, bloodline, of James Logan Colbert, perhaps you could tell us whether anyone from that line has submitted a DNA test? This is something that is much needed, due to the many marriages and for those of us who are so brick-walled that we can't go further without that scientific lead.
Our family lore indicates an Indian connection, and since Alabama is where family lore also places them as well, and sources place them there also in the early 1800's, it would be a great help to be able to discover more.
Recent researcher, especially that by Richard Colbert, indicates that James Logan himself said he was born in SC, and I have found the document that ascertains that. There are those who believe he was connected to the Logan family and others who lived in the Musk Island area/Plum Tree Island area in the Virginias/Carolinas and early ancestors settled there before moving westward. James Logan is an interesting puzzle, and many have tried for many years to determine more about him.
