I have never heard of that book before this listing. My Elisha was born,
according to family legend, in Franklin Co, NC in 1821. There were Colberts
there but I have never been able to find any documentation tying Elisha to
them. Franklin shares a common county line with Wake. My Elisha had moved to
Craven Co by 1845 and later lived in Beaufort Co. He was living with a son in
Wake Co when he died in 1892.
Someone sent me the info on the Elisha from Elbert Co. They listed his
children, but I do not know if any of them were part of my line. His kids look
like they were all born around the right time, but an Alexander is not
listed.
Do you have the information on the book written on Colberts?
I have heard of an Elisha Colbert who was supposedly born in Wake Co, NC and
moved to Elbert Co, GA. This was supposedly in the late 1700s and may have
been before Wake was formed from Johnston Co.

There is an Elisha in the line I am working on in Georgia. He was the son
of Alexander Colbert and Mary G. Covington. Probably born either in Lumpkin
or Cherokee County, GA.
Do you know if there William Colbert came from in NC. Could it have ben
Bute, Franklin or Halifax Co? Also would there have been a Thomas or Elisha in
his family. Thanks.
Tommy

I am interested in seeing a copy of this "Decendants of William Colbert" that you mention. Where would I find a copy of it? I am trying to go back from Alexander Colbert who was in the 1840 Census for Lumpkin County, GA. There are so few Colberts in GA during that time...so anything I can find may be a lead.

Columbus Franklin Colbert could be descended from William Colbert and 3rd wife Sarah Lansdale Waters (m. 1/1/1828). They had a son named Columbus D. Colbert. This William was born 1772 in NC, moved to Greene Co. Ga., then Noxubee Co. Ms. The book "Descendants of William Colbert" by Chin may have what you want.

I found a small Bible in a box of things at an auction:
Baptist Sunday School
Rev. C. A. Hobbs, Pastor
Delavan (does not give state, but I live in Illinois)
Inside the Bible is inscribed
"Georgie Colbert from his teacher, July 27th, 1886."
If any family member would like this Bible, I would be more than happy to send it to you . It is a New Testament and is about 3 1/3" x 5". A small pocket sized Bible.

Hello Nancy,
Ballingarry is in North Riding, or the northern part of County Tipperary. It's the Civil Parish, Borrisokane is the Poor Law Union and Lower Ormond is the Barony.
To obtain records for North Riding you would apply to the Mid-Western Health Board, Kenyon Street, Nenagh, County Tipperary 353 67 31212
Fees run about 10 Euros each for birth, marriage and death.
Best wishes,
K.T.

The Diocese of Killaloe in County Tipperary would be across the northern part of the county. Probably from Thurles on up.
Good luck with your search!
