Gordon,
I also would like to know about "Pleasant Green". Do you have a geographic location for this? Was George
sold in Virginia? Or Georgia?
I am curious about Jesse Colbert and where his descendants place him in the Colbert descent or the Calvert descent.
It seems to me that family of the Calverts of Md were in Spotsylvania and Bedford County and that this Jesse
may be related to those lines, ostensibly perhaps
Jesse Sr and Jr, George Calvert the younger etc.

I came across the same 1880 USFC census for James Colbert, head of household listed under the 7th E.D. Albany. I came upon this during my research on the origins of my g grandfather Edward J. Colbert born in "New York" about 1861 and that of my Irish born gg grandfather John Colbert. I am not aware if Edward had any siblings or other relatives.
Specific to this particular discussion thread, I would like to offer perhaps a slighly different take on that the name listed to be the 60 year old head of household for the Colbert family noted in the 1870 USFC 3rd ward. Respectfully, my first impression of the hand written first name was "Jack", a rather common nickname back then for "John". However, "Jas." would make a great deal more sense given the James listed for a similar profiled Colbert family in 1880.
Back to your James Colbert item, do you know the name of his parents back in Ireland or for that matter Catharine's? Do you have any futher information on the son listed as Edward beyond this 1880 USFC?
To the extent this might be of interest, I have provided two other John Colbert related items:
1. I have come across a John Colbert (b. Ireland) buried in 1904 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn. He was listed as 72 years old at time of death.
2. There is another Irish born John Colbert buried in 1896 at Calvary, Woodside, NY. He died on 21 Oct in Long Island City at age 71 per the LIC Register of Deaths (reg # 9565). I believe he was a widow at that time and his parents were listed as Edward and Margaret (both from Ireland). I have no idea who he was married to or if he had children.
On another front, I am continuing to seek any assistance on information pertaining to the above referenced Edward J. Colbert. He was married in Manhattan in 1897 (at age 36) to Annie Cassidy. The New York County City marriage certificate lists his parents as John Colbert and Catharine McGraw (maiden name) of Ireland. Annie was born in Kingston, NY and is listed as 35 years of age. Her Irish born parents are noted as Peter and Catherine Rafferty in her death certificate.
I had some preliminary hope that the above John Colbert (b. about 1825) could of been Edward's father. However, I remain unable to find any further information that includes an Edward b. 1861 in NY to a John and Catharine other than what is documented in this 1897. I have no record of what county Edward was born in or for that matter if the reference to "New York" is the state, county or city. Any help to get beyond this brick wall would be greatly appreciated.
Good luck on your Colbert family project!
Chris Colbert

I am looking for more information on my Colbert ancestors. I have traced
back to the following information but cannot locate any other information at
this time. Any information would be appreciated!
************************
Joseph Colbert was born about 1815 in Ireland. He married Margaret ??? who
was born in Ireland about 1820. At some point in time they met, married and
resided in Connecticut. This is where William and Thomas were born.
William was born about 1844 and Thomas was born about 1846. At some time
after that they moved to Illinois where I located them in the 1860 census
report. I can find no record of them prior to this census report.
