I have not posted lately, so I wanted to remind everyone that if you find
Valentine Colbert in your research, please let me know. His daughter, Sallie Ann,
married Henry Isenberg. They lived in Hart County, KY but her family was also in
Barren County. I also have found a Valentine Colbert mentioned in early Tennesee
records.
Henry Isenberg was my great-great grandfather and fought for the north in the
Civil War. Originally from Monroe County, KY, he settled and raised his family in
Hart County. I live just a couple of miles from his home site and grave.

A very good question. I wish I had the answers to them and then maybe I will know for sure who my gggg-grandfather is and his linage.
I am very interested in the info that you have on Elisha Colbert. I descend from John D. Colbert{brorn 1820 Al} who I believe is the son of Hiram Colbert one of the brothers that went to Illinois with brothers, James, Henry, and Drury.
I found Drury on the BLM website in Noxubee Co. Mississippi bought land in 1841. Then he is in the Tuscaloosa Co. Al 1860 Census. Hiram is found in the 1840 Census of Bibb Co. Al. also Hiram and a James Colbert is found in the 1830 Tuscaloosa Co. Census but the names spelled Calvot.
I also found on the Bibb Co. Al web site a William Calvert {1772 - 1823} buried at Banks Cemetery. I wander if this could be the William you speak of?
I have found Hiram left after 1840's on the wagon train bound for Arkansas. Hiram's other son Warren left after 1860's to Arkansas.
I wish I could give you more answers on the Elisha and William you are searching, but I am interested in what you have? And will share my line...I did found a Colbert cousin who is willing to do the DNA testing. I hope I will soon learn if he will go thru with it or not.

Hi, Johnny!
I do not know much about your Colberts, but I did found a Fleming Colbert with a William Colbert that bought land in Noxubee Mississippi and Obetusha??(the next county over i forget the name..will have to look it up again...but you can see it BLM website)...they bought land in abt 1841-1844...
Drury Colbert who I believe could be the brother of my ggg-grandfather Hiram Colbert the two brothers who went to Illinois with another brother, James.
Drury Colbert is also found in the 1860 Tuscaloosa Co. Census with a couple named Glover and Mary Davis a boy child Lewis Henderson.
they are are not found after the 1860's.
Also I found a William Calvert born 1772 died 1823 in Bibb Co. Alabama website buried at Banks Cemetery. Could this be your Wm. Colbert? Also there was a James Calvert in the 1830 Tuscaloosa Co. Census.
A researcher thought the brothers Hiram, Drury, Henry, James colbert parents were Elisha and Mariann ?? Colbert that were married in Elbert Co. Ga...traveled to Alabama then to Illinois then Elisha and Mariann and Hiram came back to Tuscaloosa Co. sometime before 1820. Sorry to be babbling, I know this isn't helping your search, I was told by a researcher that Elisha bought land from brother William Colbert who inherited from James Colbert in Elbert Co. Ga.
I am a bit curious about your William Colbert?

My family includes William Colbert (b.1772) and Fleming T. Colbert (b.1796). Fleming's daughter Sara Ann Eliza Colbert Shields (1826-1900) died in Chickasaw Nation Bradley, Grady Co., Indian Territory, OK and her daughter (my gggrandmother) Mattie J. Shilds Ivy (1853-1936) died there as well.
I'm very curious to know if my family is from the Chickasaw.
Thank you,
Johnny
I am looking for info or family connections to the COLBERT brothers {Hiram,
Drury, Henry, James} that traveled from Alabama to Illinois.
I believe HIRAM Colbert could be the father of my 3rd-g-grandfather John D.
COLBERT born 1820 Alabama or Illinois. According some of the 1880 Census of
his children thought he was born in Alabama.
Hiram is listed in 1830 Tuscaloosa Co. Alabama as Hiram CALBOTT. There is
also a James CALBOTT.
Hiram is also found in the 1840 Census in Bibb Co. b abt 1875 in Georga.
Then after 1840 left with the wagon train bound for Arkansas. He is later
found in the 1850 and 1860 Saline Co. Arkansas.
Drury COLBERT is found in the 1860 Tuscaloosa Co. Alabama Census
b. 1810 in Illinois with a Clover Davis working as a farm Lab. He isn't
found afterwards.
According to the familytree.org Hiram was married twice....Mary Arnold abt
1817 and a Mary Goode abt 1824. It is possible that he had been married
twice but according to one research that Mary Arnold traveled with Hiram on
the Wagon Train.
These are to believe the children of Hiram and Mary Colbert
Warren Colbert b. 1816 Illinois
Sarah Ann Colbert b. 1819 Illinois? or Alabama?
John D. Colbert b. 1820 Illinois? or Alabama?
Matilda Colbert b. abt 1822 Alabama?
Thomas E. Colbert b 1824 Alabama
Nancy Moriah Colbert b. 1830 Alabama
Narcisas Julia-Ann Colbert b. 1837 Alabama
Sometime after 1860 Warren COLBERT went to and settled in White Co.Arkansas
with his family.

I am searching for information on my Colbert family. I hope you can find some information out for me in your book that may help.
I have Anna Elizabeth Colbert married to a George Stewart. That’s all I have on them, however, their daughter, Elizabeth Ann Stewart was born about 1794 in TN or SC and died in 1879 in Grayson Co., TX. In about 1865 she married William Lawson Holder (b. abt. 1821 in Chickasaw Nation, Jackson Co., AL; d. abt. 1865 in Denison, Grayson Co., TX).
I found some information in a book (trying to verify the information) that Anna Colbert was known as Anna a la Colbert, and her father was Jonathan (John) Colbert, son of Levi Colbert, presumably the son of Jean Baptiste Colbert, III (father and grandfather with the same name).
I hope that you can provide me with verification or point me in another direction. You may contact me at vlasley(a)tucker-usa.com.
