MAGGIE WAS MY GRANDMOTHER, MARRIED MY GRANDFATHER GREENBERRY BAKER IN ARKANSAS.
Could this be your Elisha
Elisha Colbert - bounty warrent, War 4, 142 (War 4 indicates book, page 142),
Revolutionary Soldiers of America , Ekenrode, vol. 1, page 104, Kirn
Library, also Revolutionary War Bounty Land Grants, Bockstock, indicates that Elisha
Colbert received 100 acres on 22 June 1789. He was a private in the Virginia
Militia.
1830 census for Madison TWP, Franklin Co., Ohio lists Elisha Colbert. Need
to check records for Franklin co., Ohio for this Elisha. Could it by right
line?
I am searching for a Colbert family in the south, not sure where, our line
descended from an Elisha Colbert, sons James, Hiram, Drury, and William, who
migrated to IL in the early 1800's. Elisha was an heir to a James Colbert
and had land dealings with a William Colbert. Does this fit any of your
Gilmer Co., GA Colbert's. Family lore indicates the family came from
Alabama, but that could be elsewhere earlier and we are not sure just where
they came from. If anything fits, would like to have your information and
share.

Looking for any decendants of Isham and Hannah Colbert. Were slaves of the Colbert family in southeastern Oklahoma.
The indian enrollment card for Isham Roberts Colbert has a line drawn through the name Roberts. It list his children to be Viney, Jimmy, Henry Lee, Fannie, Angie, Janie, Malcie, Emma, and Albert. The back of the enrollment card list his father as Ned Roberts and his mother as Angeline Colbert.
The information for Isham's children that i have is;
Fannie Colbert married a Henry Smith. They raised their children in Stringtown twp.,Atoka CO, OK. Our family decends from son Evans Smith and Eretta Washington.
Angie Colbert married a Shed Carter. They were in the Eufaula, OK. area and moved to Spiro, OK. I have the family book from the funeral home for Angie Colbert Carter.
born; 9-5-1890 died; 6-6-1971 She is buried in the Roselawn cemetery in Spiro, OK. Some of the last names of people who signed the registry are Moffett, Washington, Smith, Colbert, Gardner, Jones, Osborne, Piercey, Parker, Sander, Stewart, Shoute, Babb, Haywood, Shepard, Booker, Davis, King, Whitmore, and Hooks.
Would like to make a connection with any of Isham and Hannah Colbert decendants.
Joe....have you come across an Alfred William Colbert in your Alabama
relatives? He is a bit tricky to find. He had two children, Ruby and Charles
Alfred and was married to Minnie Daily in Belle Ellen, AL in 1913. They were
divorced in 1919 .... due to bigamy on his part it is told. This is my
husband's grandfather so I am stuck really early in the line. On birth certificates
of the children he is either born in GA or AL...and he doesn't show up in any
census (thanks to the 1890 census being destroyed...which would have been a
great help!)
Yes my name is Joe Colbert, but I am not from texas, my ancestors came from
Alabama in that area.
