Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

She was living in Baconton, Mitchell Co., GA in 1900; married Tom MERTON
(also spelled MURTON) December 1894. They had at least one child together,
William, born 1895. The 1900 Census lists her birthstate as AL.

Hi Barbara,
Have you searched the 1860, 1850 census records for
Maine? How about Rootsweb WorldConnect?
FamilySearch.org? I don't know anything about Colberts
in Maine - the farthest back in my line that I've
found is Daniel Colbert on the tax list for 1790 in
Jefferson County, KY.
As to what kind of name is Colbert, before the French
Revolution there was a Colbert who was the French
Minister of Finance. There were Colberts in Ireland
and Scotland. One Scotsman was James Logan Colbert who
was adopted into the Chickasaw Indian tribe and had
sons who were chiefs.
