Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi Listers,
I have already made changes to the COLBAUGH / KALBACH Reseach pages. When I
was asking a question of the FreePages Help mail list, they told me that the
spammer search engines could mine our E-Mail addresses off the webpages if
RootsWeb didn't catch them quick enough. So I set up the MailMerge E-Mail
system. They tell me that spammer search engines only look for E-Mail
addresses in HTML language. Our E-Mail addresses will not be on a
searchable page OR in HTML language.
RootsWeb is very good at stopping spammers anyway. They have notified me at
least 15 times that they stopped spam from coming through on these COLBAUGH
and KALBACH mail lists. Thank you RootsWeb!
Check out the COLBAUGH Researchers and Links page for an example of the
family groups I have set up already:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~colbaugh/colblinks.html
Check out all the changes and see the possiblities from the Main Page:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~colbaugh/
COOLBAUGHs, CLABAUGH/CLAYBAUGHs, COLEBAUGHs, KALBACHs, KAULBACHs, etc. I
haven't had time to sort out any of the family group patriarches. Send me
some information and I will get your groups started.
Suggestions and comments are welcome.
Dana
Hi Listers,
I hope you had a good summer.
I have been trying to get things cleaned up and organized for winter when
people seem to be more active in their research.
I have created a COLBAUGH / KALBACH Research home page at RootsWeb this past
week or so:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~colbaugh or
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~colbaugh/index.html
(They tell me the short URL will work)
All the spelling variants, the same as the GenConnect Boards and mail list.
I've started to set up and make links to "Researcher and Links" pages for
the different spelling variations. I will set up more as they are needed.
Please let me know if you want to be listed on these "Researcher and Links"
pages - dgard(a)wyoming.com Some of you may want to be listed under the C AND
K spellings.
I linked the main page to the COLBAUGH and KALBACH Resource Pages at
RootsWeb right away and there has been a little activity already. But I had
fooled around a lot setting up the other pages and added to the counters on
each page. So I reset them all back to 1 yesterday.
If your are curious about the activity at these new pages but don't want to
add to the counters, you can go to:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~colbaugh/countck.html
Please tell me if you see any misspellings, bad wording, bad links, etc. If
anyone wants to add a page or some words let me know too.
Happy Ancestor Hunting Season!
Dana
