I'm actually an East by birth, I married a Mahaffey. My mom is the Coker in the equation so if you need men to take the test, she can't do it. I have a few male cousins who are Cokers, but we're not very close. I honestly don't know if they would be interested. I think that my grandfather might be the one you mentioned as I have found a few references to a Shade or Shadrick Coker and possibly a Zeno. I have dates for Arthur as born 1900 in Mississippi, died 1957.
My email address is east.chloe(a)gmail.com

I just noticed that your name is Chloe Mahaffe....so you couldn't do the Ydna testing, but maybe you have a cousin who could do it.

In my FTM program, I have an Arthur C. Coker, born about 1901 married to a Dora listed on the 1930 Pike Co., MS census, with a son named Paul, born about 1929, but on the 1940 census it appears that his name was Carl Coker...could this be your Paul Gordon Coker? You didn't mention any dates or places in your question. I have 3 generations of ancestors for this Arthur C. Coker, s/o Zeno S. Coker, s/o Shaderick, s/o Eli Coker. Please contact me with your e-mail address and I will send you what I have in my genfile. You do not mention your name. Do you have any Coker surnamed cousins who would be able to participate in the Coker DNA testing? I work with the Coker DNA project and we have not been able to place Eli Coker (born about 1799) in any older family so far, but a DNA sample from a Coker direct male descendant would help to possibly place him. Please write to me at MikeJessieCheek at cs dot com. Thanks. Jessie Cheek

Hello everyone! I'm looking for some help with getting further with the Coker branch in my family tree. My grandfather was Paul Gordon Coker Sr. and I've managed to get his parents' names (Arthur Charles Coker and Dora Lillian Deer(e)). Sadly, I can't seem to find Arthur's parents' names. I'm very limited because my grandfather passed away several years before I was born. Does anyone out there have any information that may help?
Thanks!

Mary Louisa Malinda Coker (1855-1874) and her husband Tom Newton (1855-1874) were killed by Indians, but their toddler, Viola (born about 1872) survived. Family histories always claim she was raised by someone in the Coker Community, 12 miles north of downtown San Antonio. Am trying to determine what happened to Viola. Does anyone have any clues?
