I have been looking at this Coker line for you, but it is a new one on me. I did notice however that on the 1900 census there was a William Coker (born 1855) who was living very close by in Van Buren, AR. You may like to investigate this William Coker as a possible father for him, although Ancestry.com trees don't list any Homer Lee Coker as his son....Strander Dudley Coker (died 1865) was listed as father of this William Coker, although I don't think that is proven. There is a lot of confusion about this Strander Coker. The 1900 census lists his parents both born in MS, only on later census data does Homer list his mother as born in Alabama. If Taylor Duane Coker wishes to do the Coker YDNA testing, that might help to figure out which line of Cokers he comes from. Contact the World Families Coker DNA project website as there is a sale on this week.

My great uncle Homer Lee Coker b. 1876 in AR
m.Ora Lee Retta Taylor 1900 Crawford AR .
Merle Coker b. 1901-1901
Hubert Taylor Coker 10/23/1903 Greenwood AR
Taylor Duane Coker b.1948 OK
I am looking for Homer's parents. He declared on the 1900 Census his father was born in Miss. I know there were many Cokers in AR at that time but can't connect him with anyone.

I have searched every nook and cranny for the parents of this Great Uncle. I have his son and his grandson's family. This line will end with Taylor Duane Coker as his two children are girls. Homer born in 1876 in Crawford county AR, had a great singing voice and loved to tell stories. He married my grandfather Frank Taylor's sister Ora Lee Retta Taylor. They had two sons, the first Merle died at birth and the second Hubert Taylor Coker b. 1903 Greenwood, AR. Homer declared on the 1900 census that his father was born in Mississippi mother in Alabama.

If you would like some further help, tell some dates also, at least approximate ones. So this Minnie Coker married a Clay? Was Minnie's daughter named Charity Clay married to a Coker? Was Howard Clay a son of Minnie Coker and Mary Jae Clay Mose also a daughter of Minnie Coker...please be more specific in giving your exact line. Your post was a little confusing to me. Was your mother, June Clay or was June Clay also a daughter of Minnie Coker?
If you would like help with Cokers please write to me at my e-mail and try to be a little more specific with your information. MikeJessieCheek at cs dot com

Thanks for posting Cindy. I would like to add some additional information on other Cokers who also had the name of Hulda Coker (just in case someone is googling Huldah Coker):
1) Hulda Coker (1766-1816), d/o William Coker (1740). This William was the son of a Bryant Coker, not of a Charles Coker by the way.
2) Hulda Coker (1811) married to Robert McLaren on Feb. 11, 1831 in Lawrence Co., TN, d/o Joseph Coker (1755) and Susan.
3) Hulda Coker (1831) d/o James Coker (1791 SC), s/o Leonard (1771), s/o Charles, s/o Bryant
she married James Riley Skelton (1831) on 10/12/1847 in Jefferson Co., AL
4) Hulda J. Coker (1844) d/o Isaac Zack Coker (1818 GA), s/o Larkin Coker (1786 GA)
5) Huldy M. Coker (1869-10/27/1833) d/o Elizabeth R. Coker (abt. 1830), d/o Elizabeth Coker (abt. 1795), d/o Calvin Coker
6) Huldah Violet Coker (1/1/1897- 9/27/1897), d/o Eugene Blecker Coker (1871), s/o Jackson Coker (1838), s/o John B. Coker (1800 GA)
Anyone who wishes to correspond with me concerning these Cokers, please reply to this e-mail.
Also there is a lot of misinformation out there concerning the Charles and William Coker who were in Burke Co., NC and later in Knox Co., TN. Their brother Joseph Coker died in Laurens Co., SC. Their father was not another Charles Coker from Somersetshire, England. Their father was a Bryant Coker of Lunenburg Co., VA. I'll be happy to send my sources for all of the above information to anyone who is interested.

I know this is a pretty old query but my great grand aunt was Huldah/Hulda Daniel Coker (maybe Danielle?) b. Nov. 1880 in Mt. Willing, AL Lowndes Co. d. 15 Nov 1944 in Montgomery, AL. Her father is my gg-grandfather George Washington Coker b. 2 July 1845 Benton, Lowndes Co d. 13 May 1929 in Tallassee, Elmore Co, Al. Hulda's mother, my gg-grandmother was Elizabeth Rebecca Evans b. 28 Jan 1848 d. 29 Nov 1884 Mt. Willing. Hulda's husband was William D. Chapman b. 1879 in Al. d. May 1953 in Fairfax, Chambers Co., Al. I don't have any children listed for her but I have all of her siblings..9 of them. I do have that they were married in Tallassee, they lived in Ft. Deposit in Lowndes Co, moved to Dothan, Al and moved to Montgomery after that. They are buried in Mt. Willing. along with many other Cokers. Could this be your ggg-grandmother? ~ Cindy Coker
