I am a direct grandchild of this couple. I am searching for any kind of written record that will link them to their son (and my g-grandfather) Joseph Coker. Does anyone have an idea? A will, some kind of legal document? Thank you.

Sorry, there is a mistake here -- and I've seen it in many family trees. Anne's father Is/was Richard Ratliff, Sr. Her brother, Richard Ratliff Jr married into Chief Pathkiller's family. Richard Ratliff, Sr ran a trading post in Indian territory and married Anne's mom. (Yes, Anne's mother is/was Cherokee. FYI, Anne did not go on the Trail of Tears with John Coker. She stayed on the East coast and appears in a census when she is 80 years old with her brother's children.

Bryan/Bryant Coker (abt 1710-1770) married Agatha Tinsley d/o John and Susannah Chiles of Halifax Va (I have copy of will as support) died Craven Co SC in 1770. I am seeking info on the Bryant/Bryan Coker line. I have records of tithe tables and military but cannot find Bryan in Craven Co early land records. I found his son Joseph and Nelly Ellinor? (my line) and Agatha's brother Menoah Tinsley as far back as 1768, but nothing on Bryant nor Agatha. Agatha and Menoah's sister Rachael married John Cargill with the same migration pattern.Menoah married Elizabeth Cargill sister of John.
Supposedly Bryan and Agatha had: Joseph abt 1735,Thomas abt 1740,William abt 1742,Nathan,abt 1738. I found Bryan and Joseph together in Lundenburg Va which helps to seal this line.My Coker line married into the Garys of Laurens DAR approved. I have not found information on Nelly Ellinor wife of Joseph who died in 1786 Laurens SC. I am speculating she might be Ellinor younger sister of Rachael and Menoah Tinsley mentioned in John Tinsley's will. I cannot find proof of this but dates, family relationships and locations would support this.If you have found anything on Bryan (spelled this way in early records) (Bryant) and his children please share. Thanks so much! This is a difficult Coker line to research.

I have a great grandmother who is a Coker. My mother is originally from Trinidad and Tobago. I happen to google the name Coker to find out genealogy. We don't know much of the Cokers but we can exchange info if you want. She married a man with the last name of Leotaud.

Yesterday at the research library I found two different Joseph Cokers in Old 96 District and Laurens Co SC. Joseph #1 with wife Mary, left a will in Laurens in 1792 (I have copy) and was not the Joseph Coker # 2 below who died before Dec of 1786 in Laurens SC. When did Joseph #1 actually arrive in SC? I found only one indication other than the will that Joseph and Mary were in Laurens Co SC and that was the 1790 census. Possibly Joseph #1 was still in Surry Co NC in 1782 and arrived in SC after that time.
Surry County North Carolinas Court Minutes, Abstracts,
Vol. 1 (1768-1785), Asher and Hayes.
15 Nov 1781 - Surry Co., NC - Joseph Coker on a jury in Surry Co.
12 Feb 1782 - Surry Co., NC - Solomon Coker (dec'd) Nuncupitive (oral) will - Joseph Coker and David Poindexter, executors, Surry Co.
Based on the documented evidence I found at the SC Archives and documentation I found yesterday at the research library, these were two entirely different Joseph Cokers unless someone transcribed them incorrectly.
