James Harvey Coker is my 3rd great grand father. I have nevery been to the cemetery but one of my cousins tried to find it. Here are some notes I have from him.
"It's assumed he is buried in Coker Cemetary with his wife. Her death certificate indicates she is buried there. The cemetary is a small "family" one. In the early 1980's, it was unmarked, unfenced, off the road a ways and under the branches of a large magnolia tree. There were depressions or field stones indicating at least 13 graves, some children. According to an elderly local couple at the time, who remembered LD Coker, the last time it was used was when Samuel Coker's wife (Mary Ellen Pethindy Hill) died in 1929. Tom Coker and George Bond placed a sign at the cemetary entrence in 1984. Supposedly the School District owned the land and wanted to build a school there then so the cemetary may be "lost".

No, I don't know Mary's maiden name or anything, but I'd suspect she's from one of the families living in the neighborhood. I was hoping to find some Confed pension papers on some of these Cokers, to get more family info but I haven't seen a single set of pension papers yet for anybody in this family at all, that I can identify. I guess you know that Jefferson & his wife are buried in Sandy Plains Cemetery in Marietta. I don't know if any other of the older family members could be there. Michael

Thanks for the info. I eventually found most of the data you mentioned but it is good to have someone else confirming what I found. The remaining mystery for me is William C. Coker's wife Mary. I have not been able to find anything on her. Do you have any data about her?
Again, thanks.

By the way, I forgot to say that I'm pretty sure Jefferson's on the 1880 Cobb Co. census, shown as J.B. Coker, nephew, living with his father William's brother Joseph, called Joe Coker on this census, and Jefferson's grandmother Clarissa is in that household as well. Apparently, Jefferson married abt 2 years later, but I don't see a Cobb Co. marriage for him. Michael McKinney

I think Jefferson's the son of the William C Coker who's on the 1880 Hall Co., GA census, & was on the 1870 Clarke Co., GA census, and was on the 1860 Cherokee Co., GA census, & perhaps 1850 census there. I've been working on this family the past day or so. This William C Coker is on the 1900 census in Cobb Co., GA, the 1910 census in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. I know his mother's name was Clarissa, b. 1807-1813 GA or SC. She's on the 1860 & 1870 Cherokee Co., census & 1880 in Cobb Co. I think her husband's supposed to be named William Jasper "Jape" Coker, who I think died betw 1852-1860 Cherokee Co., GA. I am not positive, but I think this family's on the 1850 Cherokee Co., GA census as Cook or Coak, with William Jasper shown as "Abe" or something, & wife Clarissa shown as Phebe C Coker. Even if I'm mistaken about that census, I know she's there in 1860 with her children, after her husband died. I've put what I have in my Ancestry tree, "Some Metro Atlanta Families, etc." Mic!
