Hello list,
I am entering data on the above family on WeRelate.
Does anyone have additional information on this family? All I have are
copies of the wills and census data that I have obtained.
I know that they had the following children: James, Lucy, Julia, Mary,
and Daniel B. Coker. Daniel B. Coker is in the 1840 and 1850 census in
Barnwell and it appears that he had moved to Florida by 1860. Elizabeth
Coker is in the census through 1850 in Barnwell.
Thanks,

I see we are still on the same search. I have not got any answers yet either. Except I have been told the graves next to the old Goates Cabin, are definately not any with Dicey in them. Some are now saying they are not sure Dicey Died at all, but could have simply run off and left John L. Goates. Since she was his 2nd wife and he already had 8 ch bef. his marriage to her and she had 3 ch back to back, who knows. If she did die bef 1860, there seems to be nor record of this or a place of burial either. She simply just vanished. I am thinking to getting hold of the Historical Society there in Russellville. Perhaps they have some history on John L Goates. He was already there by 1840 and is on the history books on CD. Can be purcheased from Hearthstone Legacy.

Many of us out here are related to the Dicey Coker, who married John L. Goates in 1852 in Pope Co Ar. Her name on marriage Index is simply Dicey. Some say she ws actually LaDicia (this not proven yet). She was born abt 1834 in AR some also say TN. Looking at the Indian Rolls I have not yet found a girl with either spelling of name. What other name could have been nicknamed "Dicey". We were always Toldthat John got her straight off reservation lands (upper ARor lower MO makes us think she could be the daug of Leonard Coker & Mollie Lee, we have been told the Lee fam. had Indian also ?is this true? Since
Leonard d. bef 1850 and so did Mollie, did this leave Dicey as one of those orphans? I find one living in 1850 2 yrs bef ours md John L Goates, living in Taney Co Mo with Thomas &Elizabeth Scott, who also lived near the Cokers in TN bef that. So, again could this be the same Dicey? Any one who can help me or Renda on this board on this , we would appreciate your help. We both descend from this union. Have been hitting a brick wall for years!

Hello everyone,
Maybe some of you with better search skills would search for any
members of this family after the 1860 census. Need some help. Here is a
link to the only data that I have on this family.

Apparently a son or grandson was named after the above
named individual because I knew a Coker who lived in
Corsicana by that name and a son (I think) of Arthur Coker
They will gladly help you.

Hi there:
There is a child Lizzie Coker in the Creek Nation under the Dawes Census, and also a Lizzie Coker in the Seminole Nation under the same title.
There are many Browns in the Seminole Nation and may be beneficial to look into. there are Indian Territory Census of 1900, then a census in 1910, then the Dawes in 1906, then other Cenusus for each township in Seminole County.
I am of Coker people which are Seminole-Creek, respectively.
We come from Maggie Coker, Dave (David), London and Alex (Alec, non Indian), but there are more connections involved.

Hi there:
Still looking for your Cokers?
I see some one on your side married a Goates, Goate, Goat in Arkansas.
The Creek Indian tribe in Muskogee, OK has many Goats, Goates, and that derivative of Goat. Perhaps looking into that line of research could help you.
Just a thought...

Hey I am looking for my grandmother's parents. My grandmother was Cora Couch. Born in abt 1897. She died in Ware Shoals, SC in 1989. Her husband's name was Frank D. Couch. Their home in the 1920 was in Williamston, Anderson South Carolina. I was told as a child that she was related to Gene Autry. So I am guessing that was on her mother's side. There is also history of my grandmother being a full blooded cherokee indian? Has anyone got any information on this family? Please email me at terrymccown(a)aol.com
Thank you so much.
