I need some help with Lena and Laura. Does anyone have information on
these 2 daughters. I have 2 marriage records from Ancestry.
F. Stewart married L. Coker on 20 Aug 1885 in Comanche County, TX
L. A. Hadcock married L. A. Coker on 18 Dec 1890 in Comanche County, Tx
With the initials it is impossible to determine if either of the spouses
are Lena and Laura.
I have not located these families in the census, but with initials only
it is difficult to search.
Help greatly appreciated.

Beth Gay

I come from Dicey (Dicy or Dica) Coker in AR. Some say she may be the daughter of Leonard Coker who lived in Marion Co and various upper Counties of AR. . I know no one has been able to trace her. As some of the AR Cokers also went to TX, has anyone down there had info on this line? Also I see the name Blackburn in your post. Do you have any connection with the Blackburns that went from TN >MO>Ar>TX>OK. I have an uncle Josiah Blackburn in them who married my great aunt in MO and moved to TX bet 1870-1880 and OK bet 1880-1890. I am also searching htheir son and desc. in TX a George Blackburn.

While going through the Census's in East Texas, I came across a Beulah Coker and Annie Coker in the 1930 Dallas County, Dallas, Texas Census. They were both in the Juliett Fowler Orphans Home. Beulah was 9 years old and Annie was 10 years old. Since most of my Coker Kin are from around Fannin County, I thought that they might be with my folks, but can't seem to pin point where they came from or where they were after then. The Census said that the birth place was unknown. Can anyone help with this?

Hi Marc,
A possible parent is the Robert Coker in Cullman County, Alabama in the
1880 census. Check this Robert out. In 1870 he is in Blount County,
Alabama and 1860 he is in Marshall County, Alabama. I have not located
him before 1860 nor have I located a marriage record.

Hi Dwight and list,
Okay, I have made a little progress on proof.
Regarding the statement that Jane Coker, the daughter of Robert Coker
and Elizabeth married J. D. Barcroft.
This is untrue as I suspected.
I suspected it to be untrue because Parthena Jane Coker is the youngest
child listed in the 1850 census. Barthena[sic] Coker is listed in the
household of L. L. Coker (should be P. L. Coker ) in Franklin County,
Alabama with the mother Elizabeth in 1860.
And in 1870 Jane Coker (listed as insane) is living in the household of
Elizabeth, widered mother, and they are sharing a dwelling with Leonard
and Peyton Coker on Indian Creek in Comanche County, Texas.
Anyway I ordered and received the death certificate for Jane Paulene
Barcroft Texas #22808. She was born on 27 July 1844 in Tennessee and
died on 24 May 1930. She is said to have been born in Tennessee.
Her father was J. W. Watson and her mother was Amelia Osborne. They are
said to have been born in North Carolina.
The informant was a Mrs. M.E. Cook, no relation given. Jane Paulene
Watson Barcroft was buried on 26 May 1930 in Indian Creek Cemetery.
I will scan the certificate and place on WeRelate to share with everyone
so expenses need not be duplicated.
I ordered the death certificates for the 2 oldest daughters of Mansel
Coker. The death certificate for Martha S. Holcomb does state her father
was Rev. M. O. Coker and her mother was Ann McGuire; all born in
Georgia.I will place the rest of the info on weRelate.
Annis Coker's death certificate does not give a name for her mother but
her father is listed as M. O. Coker.
I received the death certificate for Fannie Coker wife of Peyton Coker.
Her parents are Joseph Creamer and Nat Giren [?]. I will post the rest
of the information on WeRelate.
Best and thanks,
Beth Gay

Did you Talk with W. Parsons, Comanche Co., Texas <wtpii(a)cctc.net> on
Robert Coker & Elizabeth Lake He is a relative. He may have some contacks in
Comanche Co., TX. for you.
I have a Note That Robert Married an Elizabeth ? Georgia Journal from SC.
NOTE: ???? M'd: South Carolina Marriages, 1641-1965
Name: Thomas Coker Spouse: Elizabeth Marriage Date: 1813
Source: Georgia Genealogical Magazine, No. 44-45
There is nothing I can find on the Marriage Robert & Elizabeth as to Lake???
I think the died 1850-1860 in GA. is what Data shows. He is on the 1850
census and not around with family in 1860????
I have that note on Charlotte as may be Charlotte Wilson wife of Leonard
Coker.
I try to use all the Rules of Evidence, including hearsay.
I have notes on all these data deficit and they need more proof. I was
quoted to years ago that this is what family was told. Now there are no
written affiavidaties to support this data.
I am with you about needing Proof on all the data we use and pass around and
publish.
There is far too much misinformation floating around on Cokers, and other
surnames.
I can only pass on what I have in the spirit of helping.
Keep up the good work I am behind you,
TTYL,
Dwight Stipes
