I descend from Dempsey Fields Coker, son of Joseph Dempsey Coker and Cynthia Rogers. I would very much appreciate any information on William Buck Coker or Joseph Dempsey Coker. For years I've had some sketchy info but no documentation. For example, I was told that Joseph married a Brown in addition to Cynthia Rogers but I do not know her first name nor did I know he was married to both at the same time. The birth dates I have for the children would indicate that had children with the Brown first.

Robin,
My husband is also decended from "Buck" Coker. His son Joseph Dempsey married two Native American women. That's where the "indian" blood comes in. He was married to them both at the same time, according to stories published.
If I can help further, let me know.

West Coker is a linear, valley village and has its origin in Saxon times
when it was known as 'COCRE', from the British 'CUCRA', meaning crooked
stream.
It is situated on the A30 some 3 miles from Yeovil and 6 miles from
Crewkerne, on the traditional London to Exeter thoroughfare. It lies on the
fertile Yeovil sands, locally known as Coker sand, and several of its lanes
are deeply embedded in the exposed Yeovil sandstone containing bands of
shelly limestone, especially noticeable on the A30 at Pack Hollow.
