It is indeed the same family, Joe Dempsey Coker lived close to my families of Tabor & Stallings. I found where Daniel Coker and Sarah Stallings attended school together, they were married in Stone County, Missouri where the Stallings had moved to from Marion County. I cannot find any documentation of Daniel's death, but have been told that he died in the Civil War, I found where he joined the confederate army in Yellville. I have been trying to find out if they had any children or if Sarah remarried, no luck yet in my research.
My records are all on Rootsweb.com under the database "megsmess" I try to update it often, I hope to do another update in a week or so.

James & Lettish are my g grandparents...
She was a Walls. I wondered if it was brothers who married sisters or?? James Coker married Lettish Walls Feb. 19, 1858 in Shelby Co, Alabama. they then (at some time,) went on to Tenn. where my Grandfather James C was born.. then went on to finally settle in Arkansas where they died.
What a joy to have found this entry! I have had no contact with the Walls side of the family!
Lettish was born in S.C.
Is this also your people?
Anxious to hear from you,

Joe Dempsey Coker was my ancestor..am researching at this time on Arminta aka Armenta aka Aramenta Coker... daughter of Joe Coker aka Cherokee Joe aka Little Joe.
Marion Co, Ar... around lead hill, Dodd City, etc.. (my family) on 1850 census... (when my gg grandmother, Arminta was born) it shows Joseph jr 26 years old. Jr. died when he was 30.
Is this in the same family you are referring to?
kids in 1850 were James W, 6 yrs., Lucy Ann, 4 yrs., Arminta, 1 yr., and the mother of Joe jr, Aney age 48.

So far I have no Benjamin or Mary. I grew up hearing that we were of Irish
and Indian blood, but so far I am unable to prove that.
The oldest Coker contact I've found is from the 1900 & 1910 census records:
Living in Jackson Co. Georgia on both census. The 1920 census lists Emma as
a widow with one son(Talmadge) living with her, in Winder, Georgia. Both
census say Simon's father was born in South Carolina. Everyone else lists
Georiga as the birth state. Also, the child Boyd is not listed on the 1910
census. He would have been about 11.
Sam. L.(Simon Lewis) Coker: b. nov 1856 d. after the 1910 and before
the 1920
Wife: Emma Shead b. Dec 1866
Ellie May b. Nov 1886
Charlie Lee b. Aug 1888
Jessie(F) b. Feb 1892
George A.(Allen) b. Apr 1893 (My Grandfather)
Agnes b. May 1896
Boyd b. May 1899
