I am trying to help a Coker friend find the burial site of the second wife of his grandfather, Peyton Coker, who was the grandson of Robert Coker, b. circa 1898 in Georgia. They were married about 1917 in probably Pontotoc County, MS. She died in 1943-1945 while Peyton's grandson was in the Navy, and is supposed to be buried in Pontotoc County, MS. Will be grateful for any help you can render. He has not had any luck with the search, and the Pontotoc County cemetery census is incomplete on-line.

Does anyone know where the name "Adeline" originated in the Coker family? I have seen it in many , many of the various Coker lines. I have two Coker lines in my family. Each of them had a daughter named Adeline. One line was Lucy Mahala Coker(1833-1905) who married John L Ivey in Hall County GA on 23 of November 1852. Their only daughter was named Adeline b 1855 in GA. The other Coker family was that of Simeon R Coker( 1819-after 1870) who married Susan Blankenship in Jackson County GA on 13 January 1843.Their youngest daughter was named Adeline Susan (1864-1937). She married the youngest son, John Anderson Ivey, of John L and Lucy Mahala Ivey. I have not been able to identify the parents of Simeon or of Lucy Mahala. Has anyone seen any information about these people. Family lore says that they were related but I do not know how.

I am the grandaughter of Bert Coker. I would like to know which branch of the Coker Family we are descended from ie.. who were the parent of George Washington Coker and Martha Johnson Coker etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
This is who you are refering to? NOTE: Norman Asa Coker (Asa N. Coker) He
was born near Wooley, Georgia. He married Nancy Price near or at Macon,
Georgia, born ca 1815-20, was part Indian (Cherokee). Asa N. Coker went to
Union parish, LA. about 1850. Here he became a prosperous farmer and land
owner. Asa N. Coker died ca 1875-77. He is said to have left a brother,
Jefferson Coker, in Georgia. his daughters were: Adeline, Margaret,
Elizabeth, and Jancie Coker.
