Emma,
Please show these different spellings you have encountered. I have tried to
think of every kind of spelling/misspelling and I STILL can't find important
people in my 2nd great-grandfather's family!

I my 13 year search into my Coker family I have come accross 37 different way's too spell Coker . Quite often the
the difference is just an incorrect entry by the person recording the information . Just within my family there are 7 different way's to spell Coker, & all within the past 150 years!

I've searched the "Broadfoot" books for any and all Cokers in the
Confederate Army, but have never been able to determine if any were the sons
of Hiram Coker. There was a Seaborn Coker from Arkansas...I thought that
might have been the oldest of those brothers, but I did find him in the 1850
and 1860 Arkansas censuses....he wasn't mine!
Thank you for the suggestion, though.

Does anybody know anything about this Coker family living in neighboring
Pike and Clark Counties Arkansas in 1830 - 1850s?
Some of them later moved to Wood and Hunt Counties in Texas.
I am particularly interested in who Martha "Marthy" Coker is. Who was her
Coker husband? Can anybody help? Did Martha have a daughter Francis born abt
1813 or a daughter Cynthia born between 1800 and 1810?

"Family Tradition" says that Francis and Cynthia are sisters. Don't know if
it is true though. "Family Tradition" says that Francis maiden name was
Coker. Both Francis and Cynthia were wives of John Swanson Yarbrough.
Cynthia and John Swanson Yarbrough married about 1826 in possibly Arkansas,
maybe Pike County. We do know that John Swanson Yarbrough lived in the Clark
and Hempstead Co., AR area during this time. John Swanson Yarbrough and his
family arrived in Texas February 1832. Living in Shelby and later Houston
Co., TX. Cynthia died between 1840 - 1845 in presumably Houston Co., TX area.
Francis married John Swanson Yarbrough circa 1845 in possibly Houston Co.,
TX.
Any help on who Martha "Marthy" Coker is would be appreciated. Who was her
Coker husband? What was Martha's maiden name? Did she have a daughter
Francis born about 1813? Did she have a daughter Cynthia Ann born between 1800
and 1810?
Sincerely,
Renee Pierce Smelley
