Clayborne is my great great grandfather. James Wesley Coker is one of his sons, which is my great grandfather. I have Mary Jane Coker with two sons, Samuel R Thompson and Henry Lafayett Thompson. If this sounds about right. You can email me and we can talk.

Message Board Post:
Betty,
I have a obit on the parents of Ora Coker, who died two days apart at Tiawah, Ok, and the couple is buried at Claremore, at Woodlawn Cemetary. They are David Coker, born Feb. 28, 1868, died March 18, 1932 and Katherine, born March 29, 1867 and died March 29, 1932. This Ora was born in 1890 and did indeed die at Vinita, about 1928, at the State Hopital
of a virus that led to dementa, which broke down her nervous system. If you would like a copy of the Coker obit, please e-mail me your address at msapplebob(a)yahoo.com. I had heard of Dempsy Coker. Seems like one of the Coker's was the first sheriff of Nowata County area. Elmer Deer and Ora had one son named Bill, who died in Las Vegas, about 1965.
Is this also John Nelson Coker???

Saw your message and know you have been on Cylus Coker site of myfamily.com. I will be in Arcadia for Fred Pearce, Sr's 100 birthday on April 10. I have visited various Cokers there and attended a couple of the Coker reunions. I will be too late for this year's. I have visited the Coker cemetery in the orange grove at Limestone, where Daniel D. and Daniel J. are buried, also other cemeteries around Arcadia where Cokers and relatives are interred. Many of the cemeteries in Hardee and DeSoto counties are on the Internet and supply info as to who is buried in each. Many of us have a lot of info regarding the Cokers of Florida. I just don't have it on the tip of my tongue. Have to dig out the data.
I am grandaughter of Lula Blanche Coker Bonard, greatgranddaughter of Daniel Julius, greatgreatgranddaughter of Daniel D.
Lula Mae Billings Harrison of Kansas
I believe the Isom R Coker is Isham Riley Coker, born 23 May 1870, died 6 Jan 1946. He was the son of Isham Coker, born 1845, and Sarah E. Allen, born 1849. Isham was the son of Daniel D. Coker b 3 Dec 1803 in S.C. and died 21 Jan 1886, Hardee County, and Eunice (Nicey) Taylor, born 30 Mar 1810, N.C. and died 15 Aug 1894 in Florida. I have some other information on the Coker from the Arcadia area. Bev

Hi, Emma
Yes , I am in contact with my cousin Ruth in Arkansas on a regular basis. Ruth lived here for about 2 years that is how we found each other she was working on her ancestry and ound my Aunt Nellie May in Arcadia, Florida who told her my Dad and I live here in the Orlando area so she looked my Dad up and that is how this search all brgan. A lot of the info I have came from her , About a year ago we found out there is a Coker cemetary down south of Arcadia so we have verified a lot of our info there re birth dates and deaths. Ruth has been in touch with other Cokers that is how we found out about the reunion. One lives here in Florida the other I can't remember where. The info on the cemetary I will email you when I go home as I am housesitting right now. This really looks promising hope the puzzle continues to fit together. God Bless, Janice

Good Morning Janice -
Belive it or not , that is the right justational age for my great grandfather Isom ( 1870 ). I actully found a FL. cen. with 2 Isom's in it . One was the right age for my great uncle & one the right age for my great grand father . It may be the a=same information that you found ?! My information also listed Isom Sr.'s middle int. as R . We may very well be on the same track !! Have you found who he was married too at the time of his death ?
Now James Coker on the other hand....Oh boy !!! I also found him in the Confederate army in FL. , & then again in Indiana a few mounth's later . Only this time he was listed on the other side of the war . James inlisted in Madison Indiana as a privet . Not too long after I found a marriage too my gr-great grandmother (?) Reachel McFetridge. Then all at once they both vanished from what I can see .? WOW !
I can not help but fell that we have made a real connection hear !!
Who was Sarah & James's father & mother's names ? How far back have you traced the family line on your end ? How long have you been incorperated into the Coker Family Wall ?
The family runion you spoke of , do you think that I could be related too this branch of the Coker family.
Just spoke with my birth father (Gail R. Coker ) one of Isom Sr.'s grand sons . He was orfand at the age of 5 . But, he seem;s too remember some one talking about our confederate side of the family . He also said that his older brother Gary also said that we had family in Fl. as well !
Yes, I would be very intersted in the fiels you have !
I just keep on waiting for the punch line ! I am sure you know what I mean do too the fact that you titeld your search as The Coker family Wall !!
I look forward too your next reply ! Good Luck woth your search for your disc search !
God Bless -
Emma H. ( Coker )
P.S. Are you in contact with the Coker side of the family often ? Sorry about all the qestion's . I just have a feeling we might really have found a connection . And after all these years that would be a true blessing ! Talk to you agin soon , I hope .Have a wonderful day .
I know who the James M. Coker from Florida was. He was from SC and was the
son of John Coker and Nancy Lavender Coker. He never married and apparently
died of wounds from the army which never healed. This is based on his death
date and treatment by doctor. He is my husband's great great Uncle. Mary

Hello Janice -
Wow ! My Great Grandfather was Isom Coker . One of his son's from one of his marriages was named Isom T Coker Jr. !! I must say the chances are looking quite big that we might realy have a connection here !!
I know that Isom Sr. was married at least 2 times . One too my Great Grandmother Cora George Coker in 1916 in KY.
I know of at least 12 children from different women . Not sure yet if there were more .
I do have a coppy of some of the pages from his girl's Bible . They actully confused me ! The date's that I have for his birth seem to very !? From the date in the Bible there is no way his mother could have been Reachel McFetridge , as listed on hie marriage information too Cora ! His father James & Reachel did not get married till 1864-or-65 in Indiana. The Bible pages say he was born about 1863 !?
I also can not find any trace of either of his parents beyond the military record's for one James M. Coker in the army . I have found however a James Coker just befor this time in FL. . Then a Few years later .?
I look forward too speaking with again !! I hope you are the connection I have been praying for all these 12 years !
God Bless -
