Gwen,
Reading one of your previous messages, if your family descends from the Hinds County, Mississippi Cokers; I don't think that this is the same group. I do have some information on that family, not much. In the middle of baseball right now but you can email me with more information and I will attempt to find what I have. There are several James A. Coker families. You have not supplied enough information.

Hi,
You are related to my husband. His family were the Coker's of Hinds Co. around Edwards and the Dry Grove area.
His name is Charles Coker. His father was Joseph Columbus Coker, Jr. (J.C.), grandfather J.C. Coker, Sr. (Joe), greatgrandfather was James A. Coker,CSA(married to Nettie Howie of Edwards, Ms.) James A. was Ensworth Coker's brother. Their father was Robert Coker. I know nothing else about him. Would love to learn more. Let me know if you find out anything. James A. and Ensworth had a brother named Christopher Columbus Coker who died very young. I think it was some kind of accident. When James A. married Sarah Elizabeth Sorsby of Natchez, they named their first born Joseph Columbus after his brother that died. The Columbus part. There is now a J.C. Coker, IV in our family.
Thanks.

Would you have any info on John's son Robert?
My husband's ggrandfather, James A. Coker , of Miss.
fought in the Civil War. His father was a Robert Coker but more then that, I don't know. Thanks.
Gwen
So in the end he has a name.
Most people have a name if someone closes the mind to all possibilities they
lose the search. Not every piece of data is going to be exact in form you
have to look outside the box.

My uncle's name is J.C. Coker That was the given name at birth, and that is
what is on his birth certificate. When he went to get a social security card
they told him that he could not use initials that he had to have a name. So he
made a name for his self for the social security administration but it still
remains on his birth certificate J.C. Coker.
just some information
Patricia Coker
Every one has a name, J. C. is not a name. Information givin on a birth
Cert, is given Verble with no I D back then. May be is a big city hosp the
may or city officials may require?? Most doctors took care of the filings
back then. If you close your mind to all info provided you will fail in you
search. Sorry to have given you the information.

Do you have any info on a Calvin Coker, born in Arkansas in
1847. I am trying
to find out who his parents were. Yes we are part Cherokee
but I am only
supposed to be one-eighth and that is just what I was told
by my Father in about
1948.

I may have contacted you before. I'm not at my home computer so I can't check, so I hope I'm not wasting your time. Do you have anything on the daughters of Armon Coker (direct descendent of John Joseph Coker)? The daughters I'm seeking are Nancy D., b. abt 1845 and Jennie, b. abt 1850. I'm trying to determine if Jennie is my gr-grandmother who married Frank Lout in Shelby Co. TX.
