Wayne,
I'm wondering about the census entry for 1870 Comanche Co. that differs from your information. It lists Elizabeth Coker (widowed mother) in household #138. Daughter Jane is listed with her. Elizabeth's age is shown as 70 and birthplace is NC instead of SC. She is my GGG grandmother, decending through the Bowman line (Julius and Martha Jane Bowman Parker). I realize that census recorders did make many mistakes through the years, however I am trying to maintain accurate records as much as possible. May I ask if your information regarding Elizabeth Lake Coker is documented? Thanks for your time. Linda

See how things/stories are interpreted differently every time they are told.
This was in the book "Starr" by Emmet Starr. Yes you are correct with your
quote as per Turnbo Trans. I bet there are a hundred different versions as
to how the story went. Remember that Turnbo Trans. are not sworn facts Just
a series of stories from one man dictation, spoken to a reporter. Use as an
interesting story about our ancestors. That was one source I used to answer
a question for that information. I have more and they are all different.

You wouldn't happen to have a Moses Coker in the line, would you?
Preferably one born around 1795.
