Dan,
My great grandmother was named Delina Susan and called "Linie". You might
look in the censuses for a Delina.
Delina Susan was born in Jackson County Georgia in June 1864 . Her parents
were Simeon and Susan Blankenship Coker. I do not know who her
grandparents were. If anyone has any information about this "Linie" , I
would appreciate hearing from you . Her siblings were Andrew Freeman,
Jackson, Calvin, Edward R.R. , Barton, Ruthie Jane Coker Kent and Lotta
Ellen Coker Wilson.

Hi, I checked Bradley Co, AR., Pennington area Census page by page and found
no Cokers. I don't have any more time. Check the census you may find a
family where Linney is present. ????

Calvin and Melvinia Coker were both born in Arkansas in 1847 but I know not
where. I think Ark. didn't have good record keeping in the early years. All
kids born in Texas before they moved to Choctaw Co. Oklahoma Territory. My
Mother was born in Hope Ark. and I can't seem to trace her family either. She
came to Ok. in 1910 at age 12. They got off of the train at Sawyer and went
north a few miles into the timber where there was employment.
Here is the info on Thomas Coker & Sarah Sharp. No Linney P Coker ??? Not

Dan,
The infomation that you need to enter in Family Search. Org is just
Linny Coker and it will come up Linny or Linney Patience Coker. It was
# 7 that stated Thomas Ashbury Coker was her Father.
When I have some extra time I will see if I can find anything more for
you.
Joan

M J Coker,
I couldn't tell what your name was from the post, so I apologize for not
using it properly. I am in the same "boat" you are. I am 50 and my Dad was
born in 1903. He was 49 when I was born and would be 100 this year if he
had lived. I have four brothers. There is a 21-year spread between the
birth of my oldest brother and I. My Grandfathers were both born about
1872. It is not uncommon for the men in my family to marry late in life. I
had my youngest at 44. My next oldest Brother had his first child at 50,
and I have a nephew that had his first at 48. The grandchildren of my four
brothers have a 40-year age spread. I'm not sure what this says about the
men in my family. I guess we like kids. I figure that when my youngest
gets into High School, my wife and her can come visit me in the "rest home."
I don't know if I can handle a teenager at that point in life (lol).

Dan,
Look into Family Search. Org and you will find Linnie Patience Coker.
However there are two entries #5 and 6 which give her parents as
Franklin Coker and Sarah Sharp, the other gives Thomas Ashbury Coker and
Sarah Sharp. You can then check on this same family search site and see
which was her Father, Franklin or Thomas.
Maybe this will help you.

he didn't get married until age 34 and my mother was only 19 at the time and
I am one of the youngest in my family. They were living in Hugo OK at the
time. So was Calvin and Melvinia and several more of the kids. Mail me again,
you might just have info that I could use.

Hello,
My name is Dan Fulghum and I'm new to the list. Much of my Mother's family
was from Warren, Hermitage and Gravel Ridge in Bradley County, Arkansas. My
Mother's maiden name was Georgia May Bratton, daughter of Charles Edward and
Minnie Sarah (McClendon) Bratton. Mother's Grandfather was named Thomas
Jefferson Bratton. In about 1879, he married Linney Patience Coker in or
near Warren, Arkansas. She was 19-years-old. I have been able to track the
McClendon and Bratton families back to their arrival in the U.S. in the
early 1700s. I am not, however, having any luck finding the family of
Linney Patience Coker. I have been on the Bradley County, Arkansas,
genealogy list for several years, but no one is family with Linney or who
her parents might have been. I would appreciate any help you might be able
to provide.
Thanks,
Dan Fulghum

The Newberry Library in Chicago has a copy the book Our Coker Kin on file for
viewing, or at least they did about ten years ago when I visited there. I am
related to the Cokers of Southern Indiana in the Marco, Linton, Terre Haute
areas.
Joan,
Would it be possible for you to copy the related portions of the
information from the Boone Co. Historical Museum in Harrison that you
mention?
Your post pushed me to sign up for Ancestry.com and really take some time
looking at the census records.
In 1860--Seaborn S. Coker is 32. Strander Dudley is 22. It is very, very
unlikely that Seaborn is Dud's father.
In the 1850 census--Dudley is 13 years old. He is living with Edward Coker
19, and Nancy 19, Deca 16, Polly 12, and Josephine 9.
I think that Edward, Dudly, Deca, Polly and Josephine are all children of
Leonard Coker (Buck's son). I'm not sure about Nancy--it's possible she is
Edward's wife.
I think the John Coker living a few doors down is also their brother. (He
has children Francis, Leonard, Robert, Polly, Marion and John.)
Leonard Coker is in the 1840 census, but not in the 1850 census. I believe
that he is very likely dead by then. I haven't checked the Lawrence Co. Ark
and Bradley Co. info. out yet, but I suspect that it's not the same Leonard.
So my guess for children of Leonard are: Joseph (proven), John, Edward,
Dudly, Deca, Polly, Josephine and possibly Jesse, Dicey (which may be same
person as Deca), and Mattie.
Where does Seaborn fit in? I'd really like to see what you've found on this
connection. I dimly remember posts back a few years ago that suggested that
he was a son of Leonard--and I've seen the family trees posted online--but
I'd like to see the chain of reasoning or documents or whatever they
found--in the hopes that it would also let us know about all of Leonard's
children.
