I found the following obituary in a microfilm of The Honey Grove citizen, Friday Morning, January 18, 1929. Honey Grove is a town in Fannin Co., Texas. Hope this helps someone. As far as I know these are not my Coker family.

I am looking for information on John Edward Coker. He married Lizie Vanderpool in Denton County TX around 1879. They had three children, Edward, Arlie and Sarah. If you have any information on John Edward please contact me. I have no idea when or where he was born nor when or where he died. I know they lived in TX for a while since that is where they were married. I also know that their daughter Sarah was born in Oklahoma. Does this match with anything any of you have?

I'm sure you are correct....In interviewing my distant cousins, they said
their ancestors came from Randolph, AL and I just assumed they meant
Randolph Co. I have found some old death certificates that stated the
person was born in Randolph, AL. Thanks for setting me straight. It was
nice to hear from you.

It doesn't ring a bell with me, as far as I know, my father's family came
from Tennessee to Arkansas to Texas to Oklahoma. If you know anything about
Calvin Coker and Melvinia Rippey or Martha Melvinia Rippeytoe the same, his
wife, from Arkansas, lived in Delta Co... Texas in 1880, moved to Oklahoma
before 1900. Please let me know.
Hi all.... I am new to the list.... I am trying to find information on the
marriage of an Albert Coker to a Corley woman possibly named Nellie in
Randolph, Bibb County, AL.... All I know is Albert died in 1913; Corley
woman, 1914.... And that they had a daughter named Christian, Christine, or
Christina who was born June 26, 1869 and died 3-27-38.... Albert and Corley
woman's other children are Louise, Ann, Mandy, Molly, Margaret, Martha,
Laura, George, Columbus, and Henry.... Any help will be greatly

I have some Cokers in my family tree. Most of them are from the Hinds County area in Mississippi. My great great grandmother was Nettie Coker 1864-1927. She was married to Charles Warren Carraway. Her father Ensworth Coker was born about 1821 in Hinds County and died in 1878. Ensworth's wife was named Martha Elizabeth. Ensworth's father was Robert Coker 1797 - 1857. Robert's wife was Martha Rose Williams. I don't have anything further back than that, so I'm hoping that someone out there might have some more information for me or might be able to make a connection.
Hello list,
Still researching Coker's in Alabama and found another Thomas Coker. The source for this information is microfilm #LGM 45- Reel #1, Orphans Court Minutes-1844 Jan - 1845 - June. This is the State of Alabama Archives number. Pike County, Alabama. pages 13, 100, 351, 364, 371, 394, 395, 423 & 424. Entries start on 29 March 1844.
Summary of data: William B. Darby was the former administrator of the estate of Thomas Coker, he died and James M. Thompson became the administrator debonias non gr. The securities were Oliver P. Smilie and Stephen S Smilie. The wife of William B. Darby was Amanda Darby. Land mentioned was 121.88 acres in Pike County, Alabama. This land corresponds to land purchased by a Nathaniel Coker in Pike County in the 1830's exactly except that one direction is off. It appears to be the same land and I probably copied the information incorrectly, it is the exact same amount and Section, Township and Range are identical.
Thomas Coker's heirs were Mary Ann Coker now Mary Ann Williams wife of Nehemiah Williams & the following minors to wit: John Caleb, Martha, a female, Permelia, a female, Thomas and Susannah a female. Not known if his wife was still living or the relationship to Nathaniel, further research necessary.
Anyone with connections to this family please contact me at josephg(a)integrity.com .
Thanks,
Beth

Searching for information on Martha Coker, who may be a daughter of Aaron Coker of Pike Co. IN. I am interested in finding Martha and her husband, George Gammon. They married in Gibson Co. IN in 1897. This was a second marriage for Martha, who was previously married to a Pritchett.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Very interesting stories. They remind me of stories my Dad used to tell about
his uncles. One of his uncles froze to death on a hunting trip in Arkansas.
They found him sitting by a log froze to death. They would go way up the
Kiamichi River in the wagon with hoops on it and a wagon sheet over the
hoops. This was their camper I suppose. His Uncle cooked some meat and was
sitting on the wagon seat eating and looked out and a Panther was on the
wagon tongue. The Panther smelled the meat. It is funny that the young man
called Mr. Coker simply Coker. People have always called me Coker. They call
my son Coker also. My. Grandpa went from Arkansas to Texas then to Choctaw
Co... Oklahoma. There were lots of stories of his uncles in Ark. and Ok. The
Kiamichi river is in Ok.
I don't have any information on any Coker's from Arkansas although My grandpa
Calvin Coker was born there, then went to Texas. I can't find out anything
about them in Arkansas.
