One of my Coker lines is descended from Francis Coker who appears in the
1790 Orangeburg District Census. Does anyone have any information on
his parents or sibling?

my families. There is an interesting story about when Joshua Kilpatrick
( a famous baker and beer maker) married the daughter of
Middleton Coker. (Her name not given.) If you have not seen this let me
know and I'll send it to you. Since
this is a history of the county, not much genealogical

I am seeking information on Middleton Coker, who along with his family
were in Coosa County, Alabama in the 1850's, and 60's. Hi wife's name
was Sarah ?
They had children named, Edney, Caroline, Nancy, James, Noah, Taylor
(who could be my ggrandfather) and at least 2 other children.
My ggrandfather was named Zachariah Taylor Coker, Could this possibly
be the same Taylor Coker above? I would appreciate any information which
might attest to this. My ggrandmother was Frances Thomas.
Thanks,
Dorothy Howard

Hello all!
My gg grandfather was Asa Keeley Coker b 5/12/1832 and listed in Giles
Co, TN of 1860. I have written to NARA for a copy of the census page
but in the mean time I was hoping that there might be someone
researching this line. On the index, a James Coker is listed on the same
page # of the census (possible father or brother).
I have read through most of the e-mails at this sight and have yet to
find a connection to any of the other Asa 's listed in either GA or AL.
Other researchers have listed Tuscaloosa AL as the birthplace of Asa
Keeley but can't be confirmed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
David Coker
PS. I am originally from Texas but now live in MS. I plan on visiting
Giles Co TN this summer(Giles Co is on the AL border). There is a Coker
Cemetery in Gile Co. I will carefully document all data from the
gravestones I find and post for those interested. DC

I am looking for any information on my g g grandfather James
F. Coker. The only information I have is from his tomb
stone, he was in Company D 2nd GA Infantry C.S.A. with no
birth date or death date. He was married to Mary Frances
(Fannie) Graham on December 23, 1866.
I also have another reply to same letter.
We also have a Coker reunion, same weekend, at Altus OK.
Distant Cokers are also welcome to this one. We usually furnish sandwich
fixins on Saturday-on Sunday it is pot luck. Those who come far sometimes
pickup something already prepared or there is always a lot of food anyway.
On Saturdays, we sometimes bring dessert or something that will make
sandwiches go further.
We are decendents of same Thomas Grant Coker as family at Stamford Lake.
I hope to make a little of both reunions this year. Hope to meet a lot of
you.

Hi Fred, Im Sherry Coker Douglas in East Texas. My GG Grandfather was
Thomas Grant born Mar 6, 1824 in Ala. I found him on census in 1860 and
1870 in Coosa Co, Ala. Census says his parents come for SC. Some of his
siblings were born in GA. His father died about 1833 killed by Indians.
His mother Mary is listed as head of house in 1850,60,&70. Fathers name is
possible Phillip or Thomas.Thomas Grant moved his family after the civil
war to TX then to Ark. and settled near his brothers family in Clark/Pike
Co. Is it possible you are of this line? Thanks for any help you can give.
Sherry
