Who are your Coils?
My Thomas J. Crail married Unknown Coil. My Sarah Ann Crail was their daughter and the censuses say she was born in OH or IN, depending on which one you look at. Thomas' father James B. Crail was from PA.

>From what I know, there is a substantial number of Coils in Clay and neighboring Wayne County. Abraham (my gg-grandfather) was born in 1822 in Ohio, and had children with 3 wives spanning over 30 years. He would have been alive during the Civil War. His grandfather was from Virginia. Do you have any additional info? The Coil-Connection board has been a wealth of information (and 5th, 6th cousins) for me.

Do you have any other Coils in Clay Co, IL. That is where the Coils tie in with the Raleys. I will have to look up papers. Mary who ties in with the Coils was from VA or W/Va. She was the second wife of David Raley who was in the Civil War.
