I'm a Civil War author working on a book which features Sergeant Major ABRAHAM COHN, from Campton, of the 6th New Hampshire Infantry. On May 6, 1864 during the fighting in the Wilderness, Virginia, the Prussian born Cohn "rallied and formed, under heavy fire, disorganized and fleeing troops of different regiments." Later, at Petersburg in July of 1864, he "bravely and coolly carried orders to the advanced line under severe fire."
He died on June 2, 1897 and is buried at Cypress Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York. Any information on Mr. Cohn, military or civilian, would be greatly appreciated.
