I am trying to trace my husband's family. They came over to the US c. 1900. We think their last name was Chorish or Corish when they left Europe and they were given the name Cohn when they arrived in the US. This name was subsequently changed to Colby. Does any one have a similar family history?
Apparently the family first settled in New Jersey, then North Dakota, then Minnesota before finally settling in California. Another branch of the family settled in Connecticut. Any information please?

I am trying to research Louis & Pauline Cohn who emigrated from Europe. They changed their name upon arrival in the US (or Canada) and had several kids, Lee (born in 1906), Ida, Marie, Eddie, Bob, Al, Ben, Maurice, DW & Sam.
