Hi...Thanks for the response. This has been a frustrating search and I'm grateful for any leads, however slim. My grandfather told me that my grandmother, Lillian Cohn, came from"people who owned shoe stores in LA." A census record shows three Cohns who owned shoe and leather goods stores in LA in 1870. There was a Max, and Julius and an Adolph. The store addresses were all on the same street or on even at the very same site. I figure my grandmother must have been born sometime between 1885 and 1895 as my mother was born in 1913. My grandfather also said that my grandmother was born in Los Angeles, and had converted to catholicism sometime before they were married. Lillian died when my mother was about three years old. So far I have not been able to find any record of her existance other than my mother's birth certificate. That is all I know...not much.
Thanks again. Good luck with your search too. Carol
I don't know about Daniel's family. Rebecca's family is from the east, around Hartford, CT, so Daniel may have come from the east and they moved out to California together. My source of information is in an obit, which mentions them as Rebecca and Daniel Cohn of Los Angeles.
