Am hoping that someone might be able to guide me to locating more information about this man and his family:
Per the 1880 US census for Eureka, Nevada--
Isaac COHN, age 34, born Poland w/ wife Minnie age 38, born Prussia. Children: Ada age 9, Fanny age7, and Annie age 5(all born in CA).
I am searching for any info relating to Isaac Cohn/Cohen's death but am not having much luck. I have some reason to believe that the Ada COHN listed in this census MIGHT be identical to my Grt Grandmother, who was orphaned when young(supposedly as the result of an Indian attack on a wagon train in either AZ or NM c. 1881-3?). Family tradition says that she was taken by "missionaries" to TX, where she was taken in by several families before being taken to Coleman Co. TX, where she married Elias Briggs Jr. in 1890.
If anyone has any knowledge of this family, OR, has a lead relating to Jewish settlers in CA, or in Eureka, Nevada bef. 1880, please contact me.
Thanks,
Larry
