Hi list.
My father Mark Cohen according to his British army papers was born in Kiev
or Kieff in Russia about 1879 and was a baker by trade. His mother was
Bessie Cumming of Falkirk Scotland, his father was Samuel Cohen born in
Russia, an enginneer I believe. The family consisted of two boys who were
educated in Germany. I don't know much more than this, and have been trying
for the last couple of years to find any information about him.He married a
Lucy Willis in England in 1917 and she died about 12 months later. He came
to New Zealand in 1920 met and married my mother 1921 and died 1926 and is
buried in the jewish cemetry
His army papers say his parents were still in Russia in 1917 but my mother
said Samuel was killed in a building accident, its all very confused. If
anyone has any information about these people please let me know.
Dear List - In researching the Cohen name in London, England, I have found a
number of the surname Cohen males marrying women who have the surname
Solomons. These events took place at The Great Synagogue, during the
nineteenth century. Looking for an explanation as to the reasoning for the
Cohen - Solomons relationship effecting the various members of these two
families marrying each other. Also would be interested to know if The Great
Synagogue vital records are online. have Cohen interests in Jamaica and
London, England. Looking for any information. Sincerely - Richard
