Found this information and thought I would share. William Cogswell (1820-1903) was son of John (1795-1883) and Martha____ Cogswell.
"Quite sad news reached here last Wednesday--the death of Uncle Bill Cogswell. He was born and reared in Rowan County. He died at his son's in Hill county, Texas, near Hillsboro August 9th. His two sons Bobbie and David Cogswell brought his body here and buried it at the Cogswell Graveyard last Thursday. Mr. Lane conducted the funeral services, Uncle Bill died in the Christian faith. He said he was ready to go and fully prepared to meet death. He was a member of the M.E. Church at this place. Quite a large crowd attended the burial. Uncle Bill was liked by everybody. He was a prominent farmer."

He probably was born in Fleming County since Rowan county was not formed until 1856.
