I come down from Nathan BAKER Jr. and his first wife, Mahala SHATTUCK. Mahala is buried at Cemetery South Of S. Alabama, Genesee Co., N.Y. He then married Eliza HUGGINS / HIGGINS 30 May 1831 Or 1833 Batavia, Genesee Co.,N.Y. They moved to Wis and then to MI. While researching some of my Shattucks I noticed this family living near by and since I also have CASE families I was wondering who this was. Large family of COGSWELLs in Spring Arbor, Jackson Co., MI that may be related. I will post a bio for John Cogswell that I found.:

Hi Mary,
One of the first things you should do is ask your family members if anyone has saved some obituaries or funeral cards. Type these up and post them on the COGSWELL board and also at the county board where they died and also where they were born, if known. This will help you connect to the right COGSWELL's. Also ask if there are any old pictures in your family. Learn to scan. These are priceless and won't last forever. When learning when someone died also find out where they were buried. Post that information at Find A Grave and also the other web sites such as Rootsweb and USGenWeb Maybe one of the wonderful vollunteers have already found some of your family and have posted pictures of the cemetery stones. Good luck on your research. You will find that within you are the genes to be anything you want to be, both good and bad. Happy Hunting.
