Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

From "The Cogswells in America" by E.O. Jameson, Copyright 1884:
"Amos Cogswell, son of Nathaniel and Judith (Badger) Cogswell, was born 2 Oct 1752, in Haverhill, Mass. He married, 20 Nov 1785, Mrs. Lydia (Baker), Wallingford, daughter of Col. Otis and Tamsen (Chesley) Baker, and widow of Capt. Samuel Wallingford, of the Continental Navy. She was born 12 May 1759, in Dover, New Hampshire, where they resided. Hon Amos Cogswell died 28 Jan 1826. Mrs. Cogswell died 14 Feb 1828, at the residene ofher daugher, Mrs. Wentworth, in Sandwich New Hampshire."
Again, from "The Cogswells in America" by E.O. Jameson, Copyrighted 1884, Biographical Information: "Amos Cogswelljoined the Army of the Revolution, 10 May 1775, and continued in the service ofhis country until the close of the war, 31 Dec. 1783. He was first an ensign in the company of which his brother, Thomas Cogswell, was Captain, in Col Gerrish's regiment. In 1776 he was promoted to Lieutenant in Col. L. Baldwin's regiment. 1 Jan. 1777, he received a Captain's commission in Col. James Wasson's regiment; and at Princeton, 10 Oct. 1783, Capt. Cogswell was brevetted Major for gallant service. He was in the army over eight years. He took part at the siege of Boston, and was in the battles of Trenton, Princton, and Monmouth. Capt. Cogswell was Present 13 May 1783 in Newburgh, N.Y. on the banks of the Hudson, when the officers of the American Revolutionary Army organized 'The Society of the Cincinnati,' of which organization Washington was elected President-General in !
1787."
There is additional information in the book. As yet, other than the book which is in delicate condition, I have not researched for further documentation. This is the first time I have posted to a board and I hope I have done it right.
