I was very surprised to see your note. My husband's great grandmother was Hannah Charlotte BLOSSOM b.1850 dau of Cyrus C. BLOSSOM and Harriet HARRIS. She married Wesley BEAUCHAMP in Huntington Co. IN in 1867. Since finding Charlotte at the age of 4 mos. with the BLOSSOMs on the 1850 census in Butler Co. OH, I had assumed the the following "family tradition" was in error--
Family tradition from Esther VOGAN BLAND [Charlotte's granddaughter, abt 1985, Indiahoma, OK], "It has been said that Charlotte's folks (COGSWELL) came from England on ship--they died and she was adopted by the BLOSSOMS." Note from Kim Porter Beauchamp -- I have found no indication that this tradition is true--at least for Charlotte. I have been told by Joe BLOSSOM of Indianapolis that Cyrus C. BLOSSOM b.NH abt 1818 was adopted by Ebenezer BLOSSOM.
Please tell me all about why you think Edward Ebeneezer b. abt 1846 was BLOSSOM was a COGSWELL. Do you think the other children on the 1850 were adopted as well?
I am searching for a marriage record for Currence Averill daughter of
Martha Cogswell and Moses Averill. Martha was the daughter of Edward
Cogswell and Hannah Brown.
According to the Averill Family , A Record of their Descendants she was
the second child named Currence born to this couple and she was born in
1770 and living in 1784.
I think she married Daniel Johnson just before 1791 as their was a child
born in Kent CT in 1791.
In a record from the Kent CT courthouse, it shows the following.
Julius Caswell and Amy Averille were joined together in marriage October
28th 1779 by Jeremiah ??
Daniel J caswell son to Daniel and Currance Johnson was born Janry 31st.
1791 and in Febry 1795 was adopted as son by the above named Julius and
Amy Caswell.
Currance Averill had a sister named Amy.
Amy and Juilus Caswell also adopted a daughter of Martha and Solomon
Murray . Martha Averill a sister to Currance was married to Solomon
Murray.
This same couple also adopted Harry another son of Damiel and Currance
Johnson.
In the Cogswell Book it only list the Currance who was born in 1764.
Any information on this couple Daniel Johnson and Currence would be
greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Delores
