Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I tried to send this message earlier, but I don't think it went through,
so I'm trying again - excuse me if it is a repeat - I'm just learning.
The question has been raised, if this site is active. Well - I joined to
find out the same thing, and then I discovered that the list was in need
of adoption. I volunteered, not knowing what I was in for. I now am
trying to learn what an administrator of a mailing list is suppose to do
- please ber with me. BUT - let's get this thing active, and get some of
our questions answered.
There are only a handful of us on this mailing list, so we will need to
get the word out to others to join. Let people know that we are here and
we want to share and discover our roots.
Next, why don't we start with everyone giving a list of surnames
connected to the Cogswell name that we are searching and see where we
can help each other. I'll go first -
OWEN - I have gotten no where on this one.
HEWITT - am actively searching, and working with Brent, who is also on
this list.
ARNETT - passively searching for lines in Alsace-Lorraine.
My great grandfather was George Cogswell, who married at least two
times and I haven't found anything about his wives. My Aunt says that he
may have been married a third time.
If anyone else is searching HEWITT, I'm sure that Brent and I would be
more than happyy to share what we have so far, and would welcome help.
If anyone has leads on Jane OWEN (or OWENS) - please share.
Well, that's about it for me - how about the rest of you?
