Hello,
I wonder if your family originated in Cork, Ireland? I can trace my Coghlan line back to about 1802 (William) and possibly to 1775 if family stories are true about a Coghlan relative and a Quaker girl. I can only find one such story and the link is http://www.sirhenrybrownehayes.com/atwell-hayes-and-vernon-m.... It refers to a Charles Coghlan who I suspect is the mysterious and black sheep family member my Grandfather told my father very briefly about. My G Grandfather went to Montreal in the early 20th century and we believe he went to stay with family. He was John Jesse Taylor Coghlan.
Many thanks in advance
Gerald
