Dear Andy,
I am also a descendent of the Coghlan family though no relation to you.
When I first began tracing my Manchester Coghlan's I was contacted by another branch of your family.
They sent me information concerning your Andrew that I am happy to pass on to you.
I would prefer not to print the story here but if you are will to email me directly I am happy to fill you in on the details of your Andrew Coghlan.
My email address is alanclancy(a)btinternet.com
Best Regards
Alan

I think I have previously spent time looking down the wrong path. I have now discovered that my GG Grandfather, Andrew Coghlan (from Ireland) was a boot maker and resided in Manchester. He and his wife Jane (nee Gilbank) left in a hurry circa 1866 and headed for Philadelphia, but left their two children (Andrew aged 1, and Mary A Coghlan, aged 2) behind in the care of Jane's sister & her husband, William & Mary Masser. There is mention of a priest Fr Coghlan, in Philadelphia who may be a descendant of said Andrew Coghlan.
I believe Mary A Coghlan married Frank Fitzpatrick and they had 2 boys, Frank & Charles, and lived in Hornsey London. Also looking for Alan Partington, or Laura Times, from the Cheadle/ Cheshire area, to get in touch with. Any further info would be appreciated. Cheers. Andy Coghlan.
