Some of my line of Coggins were in both NC and GA back in the 1800's and my grandfather, Noah Fate Coggins was from the Cullowhee area and moved to GA in the early 1900's. I have moved and my files are not accessible at this time for specifics, but he settled around Gainesville and Cummming.
Do you know if some of your NC Coggins went to GA. My gr-gr
grandmother Castletine Melissa "Cassie" Coggins b. ca. 1832 in GA (md.
Joshua Hudson Westbrooks, d. 1913 Gwinnett Co. GA) but her father was
born in NC. I've been told that she was the dau of Jarrett Coggins
but I have not been able to document that. There was an Andrew Coggins
and an Asahael (also shows up as Asil) Coggins in Hall Co. GA in
1840's. Could some of your NC Coggins have gone to GA?
