I believe that this Robert Coggins is the son of my 4th great grandfather, James Coggin and wife, Levenia Murphy of Franklin Co., NC. Robert had 3 brothers, Martin, Elijah and James, my 3rd great grandfather. Those three brothers are all buried in Castalia, NC. James and Levenia Murphy Coggins had Martha Coggin, born 1800, James Coggin, b. May 5, 1801 d. July 4, 1885; Martin Coggin, b. Oct. 14, 1805, d. Mar. 27, 1893; Elijah Coggin, b. Nov. 18, 1813, d. Jan. 13, 1888. I have that Robert Coggin was born 1807 and d. 1861 in Georgia. He and wife Priscilla Merritt had Levenia b. 1833, d. abt. 1913; James Coggin, b. 1837, d. Sept. 16, 1858, Mark Merritt Coggin, b. 1838, d. Sept. 19, 1887; Sarah Coggin, b. 1842 and Nancy Coggin, b. 1847. Most of this information came from a descendant in SC, but I have lost contact with him. Note that first two children are named for the parents, James and Levenia.

Henry Coggins had a will in Northampton Co. in WB 6 page 63. I do not have this will. The girls at the courthouse have always been very helpful to me, but this will is supposedly only available at archives in Raleigh.
I do have Raleigh Coggin marrying Mary Edwards on Feb. 19, 1831, in Northampton Co., NC.
I have they had children, John J., Rebecca, James W., Richard R., Nancey, Jane, Everett, Mary, Martha, William Henry, and Charity. I got this information from a descendant of Martha Coggin and Willis Mann. She, also, has the father of Raleigh as a Henry Coggin who married Elizabeth Briggs on Dec. 4, 1792 in Isle of Wight, Va.

Has anybody ever established a relationship between HENRY COGGINS (b. 1804) and RALEIGH COGGINS (b. 1803)? Henry was born in VA (not sure of the county) as was RALEIGH (Isle of Wight). Both were in Northampton County, NC. Both had MANY descendents with similar names. Some family members say they were brothers, sons of an elder Henry. I have never found evidence of a connection, but there may be wills or bible records or other documents that establish a relationship. If you have any evidence I would REALLY appreciate hearing from you. Thanks! Knox Martin
