I recall the Burl name-don't know where or why. I am trying to research my Coggin line. Family history says that it was Coggin-without the ''s'' way back. Part of the oral history states that three brothers came over from Ireland on a ship /ships about the same time. Some are sure it was all three on same ship. The names are lost unless we can connect to names we know: Festus Rochelle COGGINS, his dad Perry or William Perry Coggins. His mom was Iris Bishop. His sister's name was Annie. At the time of his marriage, Festus was living in the Carolinas. He married Wavy (wavie) short for Talula Waveleen (spelling?) Dimsdale. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Dimsdale and Julia Thompson. Story is that Julia chose the name Talula because she knew of an Indian lady with that name and liked it. Can anyone add info or help in this search? There is a family bible that one of my aunts has found. She promised to copy and send names and dates to me, but, alas I am sti!
ll waiting. I plan to visit her in the new year and will post whatever info is in the bible.Maybe it will shed light on lots of our Coggins family trees.
