Hi Sam
Happy New Year - not sure that I can add much to the trail as I have really only started to investigate.
I am George Coggin, as was my father. He was born in Hull, Yorkshire, his mum died when he was about twelve and his dad wnen he was fourteen. He had a brother Jack and a sister Nell. They were put into a childrens home but dad ran away to sea as a cabin boy. I have a pic which I will send over when I have scanned it. After being at sea he joined the army, The Dragoons (Queens Bays) who were the Queen Mothers regiment. He went to France at the outbreak of 2nd world war and came home vis Spain (cahsed out) with two friends. Then joined Royal Signals and went to India for the duration.
Othe mails I have talk about a connection in Hull in the 1800s but I need to go there at some point this year to see if I can find out any more from local records.
If I find out any more I will send it over
regards
George Coggin
