This is Pete Coggeshall (Sandy's husband). The 1930 Book "The Coggeshalls in America" (TCIA) had a very limited printing and is difficult to find. More recently (1982) this book was reprinted by The Coggeshall Historical Association (which is no longer in existance). My father, Robert W Coggeshall, was instrumental in getting that reprinting accomplished (and provided the clean copy of the original book). There were more copies done of this reprinting, so this book is more likely to be available. This book is more accurate because my father did the following:
- made some minor corrections to the original book,
- provided a more accurate coat of arms (with a detailed description), and
- provided more photographs in England (taken by me in 1976) and in New England.
The Reprint Company in Spartanburg, SC is now collecting names of those who would be interested in getting a third printing done of this book. However, it will likely be cheaper and quicker to try and find a used copy of this first reprinting.
If you want even better information on the Coggeshall line back in England before John Coggeshall arrived in Boston, my father's book ("Ancestors & Kin") has details that are lacking in TCIA. If you are interested in a copy of this hard-bound book, just contact me at pcoggeshall(a)earthlink.net
for more details. I will send you those details before I ever ask for any money for this book. It is more important that you understand that this is more than a book on the Coggeshall family, but that the information on the Coggeshall line is the most accurate available.
PETE Coggeshall
