Hi again Linda.
I have just found a William Coggan baptised 29-12-1837 at Haxey. He was the
son of Robert and Ann. I will keep trying and try not to confuse things even
more.
Gladys
Hi Linda,
I am looking through my Coggons for you at the moment. I have just found an
Emma baptised 1st Feb 1863 daughter of George and Mary at Haxey.
On the same day there was a baptism of Sarah Jane also daughter of George and
Mary of Haxey. Twins? and could she be your Emma.
I will go back to looking for your other Coggons now. Hope this is not
confusing the issue.
Gladys
Hi List,
Just posting some more Coggan deaths.
These are buried in Holme-upon-Spalding Moor churchyard. There is only one
grave stone and it reads.
Thy will be done,
In loving memory of
JOSEPH COGGAN
who died Dec 14th 1918 aged 78 years.
His end was peace.
Also HANNAH wife of the above
who died Jan 28th 1925 aged 78 years.
May they rest in peace.
Parish records read
1918 Dec 17 Joseph Coggan Holme 74
1925 Jan 30 Hannah Coggan. Willerby. Aged 78
There seems to be a 4 year difference on Joseph's age.
Thats all for now.
Gladys

Hello Gladys and anyone else on the Coggan List,
I thought I would take this opportunity to post my interest on my Coggan, it is not very much but I am at a complete loss to find her, details are as follows.
Emma Coggan/Coggon married William Henry Buckle on the 5 Aug 1889 in the parish Church in Leeds, according to her certificate her father was William and she was 27 years old.
I have not been able to identify her on the 1881 census, at least not for sure. I have also searched the GRO index's for her birth around 1862, and have paid for a 3 year search from 1861-1863 with no luck. I am not even sure she was born in Leeds area.
I have found a likely father born 1837 in Haxley, Lincs married to Susan Unknown who was born in Crowle, in 1836 and what could be Emma's siblings Joseph, Alice, Ada & Ann all born between the years 1861-1874.
If anyone who reads this recognises the above siblings and discovers that they are not mine, then I would love to know so that they can be eliminated from my enquiries.
If on the other hand, anyone thinks they may have stumbled across my Emma (possibly named Emily) would also love to hear from you, or if you think you may be related, would love to hear from you even more ?

Haxey areas of the Isle of Axholme. It will take me a little while but I
will get back to you as soon as I can.

Hello all,
I am Gladys Hall and I am the new administrator of the Coggan mailing list.
I have been on the list for some time and I know that it is very quiet. I
would like to generate some interest in the list and would be delighted if
present members would introduce themselves and re post their interests.
My own interest in the Coggan/Coggon. and sometimes Cogan family is mainly in
the Isle of Axholme, Lincolnshire but I am interested in any Coggons.
I would love to hear from you all on the list. I will be posting something
on a regular basis and if anyone has any suggestions on how we can help each
other I would be pleased to hear them. One of my suggestions is that if
anyone has any certificates which they have bought in error they may be
willing to pass them on. I have one and I will get it out and post details
next time.
Good bye for now from a quietly hopeful.
Gladys

Hi
I am researching the Sheffield Flood (12th March 1864) and am trying to locate the graves of as many of the victims as possible, with a view to then further researching their family line.
Three members of the COGGAN family, from Neepsend, were drowned ; Alfred (age 13), Eliza (8) and William (6). The ironic thing is their parents escaped as they were away from home attending a relative’s funeral in Wakefield. All 3 were buried in General Cemetery, Sheffield. The Friends of General Cemetery have very kindly sent me a list of flood victims from their data base, but this only lists the non-conformists and does not include the Coggan’s.
Do you, by any chance, think these may be related to your family line? If so, could you supply any further info?
Look forward to hearing from you and thanks in anticipation of your reply.
Best Regards
Karen Lightowler
