I did a search last night but didn't post the information that I found
because all I could find was info on the son, John S. Mc Coy who was more
than likely married in Mohave Co., Arizona.
I have the Colorado marriages and George and Edith are not listed on the
CD. I know that the CD is not complete.
I think I did find a George in CA. The son was working as a cow puncher
for the Diamond ??? Ranch and the ranch was owned by a Duncan and John
married the daughter and died in CA.
I just figured anything that I had found was not important as I also found
family trees and the parents weren't listed in there.
It would be interesting to find out where this man's mother was born and
that would tell us if they stayed around the Denver area or was there on
their way to some place else when the son was born.

This may be one of those "dead-end" problems which will be
difficult to
resolve. I checked the 1880, 1885 CO census, and the 1900 census with no
matches with the information provided. There were McCoy's in Jefferson
Co.,
but I could not find anything to indicate this was the same family. Of
course with censuses, it's going to depend on what was given as a name,
what
was listed as a birth place by the person providing the information, what
the indexer transcribed it as, etc.
If you haven't already sent a reply, my recommendation to tell him is that
in a preliminary search you have turned up nothing to indicate his family
was in Jefferson County. You might ask him his source for the marriage.
We
have the Colorado Marriage CD at my local genealogy society here in SW
Washington, I can look at it on Thursday when I am there. That might at
least give a clue to a starting place to look.

Mr. Prythero,
Your organization was recommended to me for genealogy research in Colorado.
I have been trying to locate additional information on my GF John Stephen
McCoy who was born 4 June 1890 in Denver Colorado. His parents names are
George McCoy and Edith Monroe. I do not have any other information of
George McCoy or Edith Monroe other then the names. George McCoy supposedly
was sent to live with relatives in Colorado from Kentucky and I have been
unable to substantiate this as fact. I would like to gain additional
information about sibling of John McCoy and or additional information about
George and Edith family facts.
I would appreciate any insight or information that you could provide. Let
me
know if there is a cost and I can provide funding as necessary. Thanks in
advance for you assistance.

Subject: McCoy line
George,
Still working on genealogy when I have time. Still stumped on the McCoy
line. George McCoy (John Stephen McCoy's father) supposed came from
Kentucky as a small child. I understood my mother to say that that John
was
a 1st cousin to Tim McCoy, but my research did not pan out to show a
relationship. Tim came from Michigan and John came out of Colorado.
Looking in new family search I found a John "Butterick" McCoy born in 1826.
His last child born was a George W. McCoy and there was no other references
other than born in 1867 which would be about the right time period for my
George McCoy. All of the other sibling had other information (Marriage,
children, etc.) where as George did not. It was said George McCoy was sent
to Colorado to live with relatives. So I guess this will take more work
before a link can be established.
