Gail,
I'm one of those you are talking about. As the saying goes - the pathway to Hades is
paved with good intentions. I keep intending to fix the problems with my web site, but I
inherited it done in Front Page which is not a simple program to work with. I was still
able to keep up, but now have gotten out of practice and find it hard to get back up to
speed and fix problems, add data, etc. I need a very simple web program that is intuitive
and easy to update and add to. I've tried Yahoo Site Builder, but it got corrupted
and I got frustrated and gave up trying to use it. I feel the project is important and
sorry to let you down. I've helped a few people, but the requests for info have not
been exactly overwhelming and I wonder about the utility of the project, especially for
small counties like mine. I get more requests, again limited, through our historical
society web site which I also maintain. I've asked another local who is interested in
genealogy if she would be in!
terested in taking over the site, but she said she wasn't that computer savvy and
didn't feel comfortable doing it. As I said, my intentions are good and I hope to be
able to bring my county site up to speed - one of these days - but, if you can find
someone else to take it over please don't hesitate to do so.
I appreciate what you are doing and I know it's a bit frustrating, but that is the
nature of the beast when dealing with volunteers - as I well know, as I serve on many
volunteer organization boards also.

That depends. How badly do you want to have more counties up for
adoption? You can certainly fire your volunteers but I haven't seen a waiting list of
people looking for counties to ,adopt so your choice is let it go or fire them and have
the counties sit without anyone taking care of them. Seems like a rock and a hard-spot
kind of question.
In my case I acknowledged the problems but simply have not had time to do anything with
them yet. Given that none of the problems were earth-shaking and that there are much
higher priorities in my life right now it went in my to-do list and, when I can, I'll
get the items fixed.
Don Stanwyck, clear creek and gilpin counties.

I would like to know what you would do if you were in my position and you and your
ASC's did a review of county sites, found the problems, emailed the problems to the CC
and the majority of the CC's responded that they had repaired their county sites.
What would you do with the minority that did not even respond to the review at all?
