Like an Irish wake to be sure, but his surname was Maass and her's maiden
name was Smith.
There were hardly any tears shed, everyone was happy, well, they were
drinking..the music was upbeat other than Taps.
First time for everything and if you have ever been to the Granite
Cemetery, then you know what I mean being like Boot Hill.

It sounds very unique and kinda fun - like an Irish wake.

Today my sister and I attended a memorial for a couple that passed, she is
2006 and him in 2012. Talk about a boot hill burial. We got to the
cemetery and chairs etc. were set up at the gate of the cemetery. One
cooler was marked Betty's and had the mixed drink she drank in it. One
cooler was loaded with the beer that he drank. In fact, they had to do a
beer run.. The son talked about his parents and one man talked about the
man who had died. Then we all walked down the hill to the grave, drinks in
hand, and the urns were put in the ground and they played three songs from
a tape or CD. While the music was playing the family came to drop dirt on
top of the Colorado State Highway sign that they put in the hole to cover
the urns. By the time the music was over the urns were completely
covered. We walked back up the hill and everyone stood around still
drinking. Then departed to the only restaurant in the town and relishes
and dip and chips were served and then everyone was to go to the house at
6:30 to continue the party. Needless to say, we didn't stay long at the
restaurant so know that everyone had better stay off the highway tonight as
there are going to be a lot of intoxicated people driving home.
The only thing missing was the horse drawn hearse.
