I've noticed an increase in Facebook genealogy sites, and have joined
several myself. Someone has already taken on my two Ohio counties, but far
as I know, no one has done the same for the Kansas or Colorado counties.
Now that my babysitting days are numbered, I should have a lot more time to
devote to my county pages.

My Adams County, OH and Lewis County, KY GenWeb sites are hopping. I just
spent a week updating both sites with tons of new information.
Boulder and Weld counties here in Colorado are much slower. I did get a
query this am, but they are rare.
I'm not sure all of the activity is going to
Ancestry.com, although a lot
is. I am finding that FaceBook is a hot bed of genealogical activity. There
are research groups everywhere. I admin four sites myself, and while the
eastern (OH and KY) counties are a lot busier, Weld County, CO is starting
to pick up. I'm thinking about starting a Boulder County site if there isn't
one already.
One of the huge advantages is that by admining or at least being active on
these sites is that people start to get to know you and hopefully trust you
to be respectful of the materials they have. Every once in a while I post on
the sites saying that I am ready to do an update, and material pours in.

I have noticed a large reduction in traffic, too. I've been developing an
ancestry (not the company, just the concept) intensive domain to involve
the different cultures that made up Las Animas in the latter part of the
19th and early 20th centuries. There were alot more than I expected. I'm
starting off with the Italians and the Hungarians, because first, I am
descended from Hungarian grandparents (both sides) and it's the foreign
area I am most familiar with and I have someone in Italy now who is
dedicating a few months living in the town her husband's family was from
and she wanted somewhere to post the town history and pictures as well as
the church records for the line.
Hopefully, that might draw some more interest!
